Easy black and white nails for this late winter! I used 2 coats of Essie White Out for the white base on all my nails except my ring where I used mark. Tuxedo. I then used mark. Tuxedo to draw a thin line and dots. Easy peasy lemon squeezy! I wore these nails with my black and white look I shared last week! (check it out here). I said it before and I’ll say it again Black and White is always a classic, especially perfect for this time of year!
The long weekend is in sight… and you know what that means, WEEK O’NAUTICAL! For my summer holidays I celebrate Memorial Day, 4th of July and Labor day by wearing red white and blue inspired all week long, which basically just turns into nautical inspired looks.
Since I was not able to capture this week’s looks I’m kicking off week o’nautical with a recap of past nautical looks. Check out my Week O’Nautical category posts: http://helplicia.wordpress.com/category/week-onautical/
In addition, here’s some nautical friendly pieces I’ve been loving. Definitely have put this mark. White On Time Blazer ($48) in heavy rotation this spring, particularly over a navy t-shirt dress. My favorite t-shirt dresses (including this one) came from H&M. I can see this blazer looking equally as chic over some sailor shorts and tank, a nautical striped maxi, or with some trouser jeans!
My go-to accessories have been the mark. Dramatic Effect Stretch Bracelet (shown) paired with the Deco Drama Studs and Stones and Cones Necklace ($22). You can get the White On Time Blazer and Stones and Cones necklace currently at my eboutique: http://ahessinger.mymarkstore.com for the bracelet and earrings they’re currently unavailable but I might be able to hook you up 😉
The other piece currently unavailable are the Blues Cruise pants but I bought them specifically for Week O’Nautical! So check out the looks below and be inspired to wear your red, white and blue… and stay tuned for an exclusive sneak peek and maybe even a week o’nautical special!!!
The first thing I thought of when I heard “safari chic” was an Express ad that had this sequin shift under a military dress belted from a few years back. I loved the pic so much that I got the full look! It’s hard to wear sequin during the day, but wearing it this way makes it totally do-able! And what’s more chic than sequins!?! And what’s more safari than a pocketed earth toned dress!?!? Put those 2 together and safari chic! All that’s left is to accessorize!
I needed a safari arm party to go with my safari look so I used a combination of mark. In The Mix bracelets and mark. Big Mix Up Bracelets. Of course I pulled out my favorite ring from last fall the Ring Me Up Stretch Ring, and the new favorite Stack and style rings also from mark. To bring it all together I used the mark. Studs and Style Stretch belt, a wardrobe must have in my opinion. And what’s a safari trip without some aviators and a faux ostrich bag, The Hot To Handle bag both from mark. You can shop the accessories at my eboutique: http://ahessinger.mymarkstore.com
Safari chic reaches from head to toe with the Wedge Right In Wedges, a new arrival from mark. Seriously these wedges are cute comfy and completely on trend in nude with an almost aztec like detail pattern on the wedge. I’ve been wearing them non stop and not a single pinch, pain or blister! Shop them at http://ahessinger.mymarkstore.com
Like I said this look paid off because it was my winning look for mark.’s how you wear it contest! I have a bunch of safari chic goodies headed my way and I couldn’t be more excited about it. Check out the other winning looks! (from @markgirl ‘s facebook page)
Here’s what I don’t like about this time of year… back to school! I’m years out of school and I still get a little depressed seeing all the commercials and ads. Just bringing to my attention the end of lazy summer days, swimming, bare feet, heat and all things summer. However, what I do like about this time of year is the excitement of a new season! I do love fall (even if I love summer more) all the holidays, crisp air, leaves changing, football, fall activites, etc… And I like all the new fall releases even better! My window shopping (or virtual window shopping) desires are so beyond met with all the fall releases and this year it seems like all my favorite styles are majorly on trend!
mark. is no exception with the public release of their early fall collection on the 10th, I’ve been obsessing over the new beauty and fashion. That’s another good thing about the changing season, everyones ready for a new look… hair, makeup, fashion! With mark.’s early fall collection they did a great job with items that you can wear now with your end of summer looks and easily transition into fall. Since I literally love ALL of it I’m going to first highlight the pieces that were not obviously my style but allowed me to switch up my usual. And I’m so obsessed I have to share!
When I saw an early sneak peek at this cover my eyes were in awe! The messy bun, the perfect face with a bold lip, the earthy accessories… not to mention the burgundy top and opaque pale nails! (sidenote: I’m SO calling burgundy/berry/oxblood/maroon as the IT color for fall). Had to have it. Got it. Obsessing over it. Now let’s analyze it, starting with my favorite piece of the whole look… the Green Piece Earrings and Ring Me Up Stretch Ring!
I find myself reaching for both these daily! They go with a lot surprisingly! Especially since I wear a lot of black, these are enough of a statement to dress up even the most basic but not too flashy they’re not daytime appropriate. Plus they’re expertly detailed, interesting and different… not going to find them at your run of the mill shopping center. In this picture I’m also wearing the Triple Sparkle Necklace ($18) layered with the m.Powerment Power Of Change Necklace set ($28). You can get these necklaces along with the Green Piece Earrings ($18) and Ring Me Up Stretch ring ($16) at my eBoutique: http://ahessinger.mymarkstore.com.
Since these accessories are a little on the boho side I of course had to work them into my style. I’ve been wearing the earrings and ring with perfect companions of the In The Mix Bracelets ($22) and Borrowed From The Boys Watch (Orig $40 now $24.99). I’ve worn this watch to death this summer and I’m happy to say its now on clearance for your shopping pleasure at http://ahessinger.mymarkstore.com. Then of course I had to get new shoes to go with my new found loves. Shoedazzle came through ONCE AGAIN! Seriously, if you aren’t a member of Shoedazzle then you’re missing out… everything is $39.95! Do yourself a favor a sign up and do me a favor by doing it through my referral link: http://www.shoedazzle.com/invite/13vwrv69ld
Here’s a closer look at the In The Mix Bracelets (click here)… which I’ve also been wearing non stop with their mixed metal trend and stretch weave styling!
Now back to the cover look, her makeup! Also released with the early fall collection was new beauty including new formula and shades of our ever so popular i-marks ($7) and introducing a new lip crayon, Make It Rich ($11). The formula on both of these is nothing short of amazing. The i-marks go on SO smoothly and are really pigmented, plus you can apply dry or wet for even more intense color. The Make It Rich Lip Crayons are the perfect mix of a lip stick, balm and gloss. They go on perfectly and smooth and have some serious lasting power. Available in 6 very wearable shades… that cover look… that’s Make It Rich in Royal. Gorgeous right!?! Lucky for us all mark.girl tv posted a tutorial on how to achieve this look with mark. makeup artist Mai Quynh. You can shop all the products used to create this look at my e.boutique as well! http://ahessinger.mymarkstore.com
This is just the start of my mark. fall release reviews and postings. This post was long enough as it is! So in the mean time you can check out all the new arrivals at my eBoutique: http://ahessinger.mymarkstore.com
The summer is flying by, just like it does every year… The 4th of July is days away and it feels like Memorial Day was just yesterday! I’m not complaining because the 4th is my favorite summer holiday, it’s usually mega hot (unlike Memorial Day), there’s still plenty o’summer left (unlike Labor Day) and there’s fireworks (unlike any other holiday)!!!!! Even though this year it falls on a Wednesday I’m still doing a week of nautical inspired looks! Really a week plus, since last week I spent some time on holiday with fam bam on a houseboat, full of nautical looks carried all the way through this week… which I’ll share later, but let’s start this 4th of July week with Monday off right!
Today’s nautical look consists of a white and navy striped dress from H&M from a few years back. I’ve debated donating this dress multiple times, then this time of year rolls around and I’m SO glad I kept on to it. Striped dresses are a dime a dozen so find one that works for you, because I consider it a wardrobe must have! I accented with neutral accessories to keep the look clean.
My nautical rope necklace is a clearance find at Target (which I also got in blue, oopsies!) but how perfect is it for nautical looks! Quick story… I saw this necklace on some chic at the bar way back in early early spring and thought it was SO crazy cute how she had it styled with a 3/4 sleeve white crewneck t-shirt, sailor shorts and bright patterned sky high wedges. Then when I randomly saw it at Target the other day I was like, THERE’S THAT ROPE NECKLACE!!!! And for how many times I’ve been to Target over the past months and NEVER saw it, it was week o’nautical destiny!
The rest of my accessories are from mark. of course! Can’t do nautical without a shiny gold menswear watch with the Borrowed From The Boys Watch ($40). The bracelets are a set of 4 mixed metal stretch bracelets, In The Mix Bracelets ($22) coming out July 13th. Also debuting July 13th is my tiger eye ring, Ring Me Up Stretch Ring ($16). I stacked in an extra bracelet from Express just for fun, the Mesh and Rhinestone Bracelet ($26.90). The Catch Of The Day Clutch ($32) is a summer outfit go to and lastly my woven belt is also from mark. that’s been in and out of sale so check out my eBoutique for the latest http://ahessinger.mymarkstore.com
There’s just something about wearing a cool cotton sun dress that makes a summer day feel oh so perfect. Especially when you can make it nautical!
