New Year New Mani

New Year New Mani!

New Year New Mani!

Happy New Year!  I hope 2019 is off to a spectacular… or sparkling start!

Matte Sparkle for the New Year

Matte Sparkle for the New Year

My New Years Eve mani has become my new year mani. While going through my nail polish stash I found these super sparkly polishes from Julep, which are actually a matte.  Making this mani something a little different and with all the glitter I was already wearing, matte seemed a good way to go.

These also look WAY better in person! I couldn’t capture the sparkle, so take my word for it.  I was kinda hesitant to give up wearing red on my nails but this purple polish is making it easy to transition to the new year.  Plus, first post always has to be a new mani post right!?

Avon Nail Art Design French Tips

For my holiday party this weekend I’ll be wearing these Avon Nail Art Design French Tips in Let It Snow and using them again in Tartan for Christmas Eve!  All you do is use your favorite shade as your base.  Then apply the nail art strip after it’s dried.  Place it higher on the nail if you want a typical french tip look or lower to show just a little for a half moon mani look.  Could even just use these just as an accent nail.  Either way they’re fun and festive and a level of detailed design I could never do on own!  Aaaaand they’ve been marked down to $2.99 so take advantage of that free 2-day shipping and get these NOW!  (http://www.youravon.com/aliciahessinger)

10.  Nude with gold tips.

This is just too pretty!  To recreate the look go with a nude that’s a little more on the pink side and make your gold french tips super slim.  Try Essie Penny Talk for the tips!

My Wear and Share partner in crime, Jackie over at Living After Midnight, showed us her KILLER snowman mani.  Not only is this guy super festive, it’s great in snowy January as well!  I’m LOVING it paired with her striped top and emerald jewels too!

7.  Green and gold.

Go to the other end of the Christmas color spectrum with a deep green polish topped with some gold glitter.  Try Essie Stylenomics with Essie LuxeEffects in Rock At The Top.

Our friends over at Sealaura already showed us how chic an all white mani can be, but let’s step it up a notch with a snowy white look!  Top Avon’s Gel Finish in Iceberg White with Essie LuxeEffects in Shine Of The Times for a glistening snowy white look… and maybe if you want, do a red accent nail like I did!

5.  Santa Nail Art!

Santa Nail Art

Santa Nail Art

This one looks easy enough to recreate!  Basically do a red nail with white french tip.  Where they meet draw a thin line in silver.  (Try using an old liquid eyeliner brush to get a super thin line!)  To do your Santa accent nail start by doing the beard first.  Let that dry, then do the red santa hat by just making a thick line.  After that dries, make small dots in a row for the top of the hat.  Dot on black eyes (try using a toothpick) and the nose and you’re done!  Seal it all with a topcoat!

4.  Blue Christmas – Avon Gel Finish Winter 2014 Shades

For your non-typical holiday mani I’m loving these shades from Avon.  You already know I’ve been digging Iceberg White, but Inked Out and Alaska (now only $4.99!) are also perfect wintery shades.  Blue for the holidays has become a favorite and not just for Hanukkah!  If you want to make it a little more festive, top it with a silver glitter topcoat.

3.  Gold Stripes with Julep December Box:  Classic With A Twist

Julep always has the perfectly paired offering with their monthly box selections.  For December I went with the Classic With A Twist selection featuring Sienna and Ilga from the Count It Down collection.  I also added on the striping tape for a little holiday nail art.  This is the perfect set for the work week leading up to Christmas!

2. Presents

Now this might be for the advanced but it’s like a Christmas sweater for your nails!  How festive and cozy!

Holiday Hangover

Time to take down the tree, turn off the twinkling lights and say goodbye to another year.  I’m in a bit of a holiday hangover, I don’t want it to be over.  I enjoyed the prepping, the festivities, the family and fun!  Since I’m not quite over Christmas vacation or ready to deal with reality and responsibility I thought I might as well relive it and share my holiday mani’s!

Red and White Argyle

Red and White Argyle

Come Christmas Eve I was so busy wrapping and prepping I still had my leftover holiday party nails, which were def chipping.  So I quickly did this!  In retrospect I wish I would of allowed myself more time and more creativity but c’est la vie!  I knew I wanted red so I used OPI The Spy Who Loved Me from the fall/holiday Bond collection.  I then used Konad White to stamp the argyle print from plate m60.  It was quick and somewhat messy but it was holiday-tastic!

Speaking of those leftover holiday party nails for the office party and annual Nutcracker outing I used Essie Beyond Cozy and China Glaze Winter Holly on my ring and thumb.  Again, I was pressed for time and these were opaque in one thick coat and super short dry time.  Essie’s Beyond Cozy I already knew was going to be a holiday lifesaver, check out quick and easy party hair and nails to see why!

Then came that week in between Christmas and New Years where I was SUPER lazy!  Luckily I was gifted and OPI mini set so I did a simple shimmery red with an accent nail in China Glaze Glitter All The Way.  I would of left this on for new years but I found myself with some extra time on my hands and my sister gifted me the Ciate Sequin Nails Kit so I thought… if there’s ever a time for full on sequin nails, its NYE!

Ciate Sequin Nails

Ciate Sequin Nails

The Ciate set was pretty quick and easy to use.  They provide you with Ciate Sequin Glitter Grip that you use as a base and top coat basically.  First do 2 coats of the grip letting the first coat dry completely and immediately after the second when its still wet dip your nail in the “sequin” (aka glitter).  The dip coats the nail pretty well then just pat it down with your finger and follow with another coat of Sequin Glitter Grip.  They also provided a little brush to sweep off the extra glitter but I found it unnecessary.  I just used my fingers as I was patting down the glitter.

I was pretty pleased with how they turned out, perfectly matched my sequined leggings for my NYE look!  As the night went on some of the sequin def came off especially against my satin lined clutch every time I reached in there.  Maybe a couple extra coats of top coat would of helped.  I got decently annoyed of them the next day and manually chipped it off most my nails purposely leaving an accent nail haha.  The set is great for a special night out or event and the kit gives you PLENTY to do this again and again.

Nothing completes a holiday manicure like some bling!  The rings and bracelets are all mark. which you can find on my eboutique at http://ahessinger.mymarkstore.com.  This holiday season I wore those Sparks Fly Bracelets and Just Your Luxe Ring to death!  They just matched everything and gave just the right amount of festive!  Hope you had a fantastic holiday and are having better luck jump back into reality!
