Makeup Look To Master: The Quickie

Makeup Look To Master: The Quickie

Makeup Look To Master: The Quickie

Even if you are not a perpetually late person like me, you need to master the quickie!  From my 5 makeup looks to master the quickie is the easiest and most necessary!  Need something you can quickly do to feel good and look good. Your quickie makeup look has to be quick and easy and with no-fail products!

Easy Breezy Word of Alicia

Easy Breezy Word of Alicia

I have a few of these quickie techniques that I rotate, based on scenario and what products I have at hand… aka what’s already in my purse, what’s on top of my makeup bag if I’m home, what activity I’m doing, going to work/going to the store/etc…  For this look I went with my lashes and lips technique.

Quick and Easy Makeup

Quick and Easy Makeup

On my face I just used concealer, concentrating on under eyes, around my nose and chin.  (I’m using a discontinued one so currently on the hunt for a new one, spam me with your favorites!)  I usually keep a mini blush in my purse right now its a mini Nars Laguna Bronzer and Orgasm Blush which I swirled together and lightly applied.  For eyes it’s just lots of mascara with the Avon Love at First Lash Mascara.  I kinda apply it messy so the transfer kinda darkens the lash line like a liner would.  And then seal the deal with a bright lipstick, Avon True Color Nourishing Lipstick in Dragonfruit.  Quick and Easy.

Messy Mascara = Prentend Liner

It’s the bright bold lip that makes this looked so finished and polished.  If I have an ounce more of time and a good mirror I’ll do my eyeliner with my Avon SuperExtend Liquid Liner Pen (see review here).  Gets me closer to my Everyday Slay look.  Nice thing about being an Avon lady is I always have those little lipstick bullets in a pocket, drawer, bag, somewhere so I can get this quick look very easily.

This is also the technique I used for my beach makeup, only I use a waterproof mascara and wear a tinted lip balm instead of lipstick and more bronzer than blush.  But real quick my earrings are from the Julia X Avon collection which is coming back to the outlet next week so be sure to check out http://www.youravon.com/aliciahessinger for them and for my Avon makeup products I used in this look!  Be sure to keep following along my 5 makeup looks to master series here on the blog because all these selfies have me like…

Makeup Look To Master: Everyday Slay

Makeup Look To Master: Your Everyday Slay

Makeup Look To Master: Your Everyday Slay

The everyday makeup look is the hardest to perfect in my opinion, which is probably why mine is ever changing.  Not only do you need to find the best flattering shades, you also need to find the best formulas for your skin type and that work with your lifestyle… not to mention techniques and trends!  No one wants to look like they’re doing the same look they did when they first started wearing and experimenting with makeup.

First, determine what your everyday looks like.  What features you want to highlight, what products you like to use. Like for me, I like the look of a heavier eye and I don’t really like to wear foundation, so my look is going to be a more complicated eye look and a simpler face look.  For my lifestyle I need a look that works for my 9-5 that’s business casual, along with some after work and weekend casual actives.  Additionally, most of the year its super hot so I need something that doesn’t melt/sweat off and can handle my large pores.

My Go-To Everyday Makeup

My Go-To Everyday Makeup

Now that I’ve determined what my needs are, its time to slay!  I kid, I kid… I don’t slay I just like that it kinda rhymes… Anywho, I start with skincare straight out of the shower, a serum, eye cream and moisturizer.  Right now I’m using the Avon Anew Dual Elixir, the Anew Hydra Fusion Eye Serum and the Anew Ultimate Day Cream with SPF 25.

To battle my large pores and help battle the hot temps my face makeup starts with a primer, Ulta Poreless Face Primer.  Even though I said I don’t like foundation I’ve been wearing the Avon Magix Tinted Moisturizer in Light Medium.  It doesn’t feel like a foundation, or look like one, just blurs my imperfections and evens my skin tone all while looking natural.  Next, I follow up  with concealer under my eyes, on lids and on nose.  I use a fluffy brush and apply bronzer on the top of cheeks and forehead followed by blush on the apples of my cheeks.  Right now I’m using up my mark. Hooked Up Bronzer and been loving the Avon Blush Palette  from the spring.

Pinky Neutral Eyes and Liquid Liner

Pinky Neutral Eyes and Liquid Liner

For eyes, I stick to neutral pinks and taupes that are cool toned for my everyday.  Lately my go-to is a taupe shade in the transition area (from this holiday palette) and the Avon Glimmershadows in Rose Gold all over my lid and underneath.  From that same holiday palette I use a shimmery white to highlight my inner corners and brow bone.  I top it off with a winged eye using the Avon True Color SuperExtend Precise Liquid Liner in Black and Love and First Lash Mascara.  On my lips my everyday is some sort of balm or nourishing lipstick or oil, here I’m wearing some Burts Bee’s Lip Balm.

Just some side eye and RBF

Just some side eye and RBF

This is typically my everyday, all I do is tweak this look.  I tweak the eyeshadow colors and the lips most often.  Same eyeliner, same mascara, same blush/bronzer duo.  If I’m feeling really extra I’ll add a contour or highlight or maybe do my brows but for the most part this is it and easily re-createable even if you aren’t a liquid winged eyeliner fan, just swap in your fav black eyeliner (Glimmersticks are really easy to use!)

You can shop most of my go-to products that I used for this look at my eBoutique and today, June 6th, you can get FREE SHIPPING with a $25 order!  Perfect time to pick up some new makeup that are at lower price points.  I’d also suggest getting some Bug Guard as its on sale right now too!

This was a lot of words of/from alicia and very few and very similar pictures so if you read this entire post, kudos to you!

Makeup Monday: New Easy Summer Neutral Makeup

Makeup Monday: Easy Summer Neutral Makeup

Makeup Monday: Easy Summer Neutral Makeup

I don’t always do makeup Monday’s but when I do you know its something obsession worthy.  Lately, my summer makeup obsession are the new summer shades in classic formulas from mark.  They are super easy to use for a neutral makeup look that’s also summer friendly (aka heat proof).

mark. came out with a few new shades in our old favorites for the summer.  2 new shades of their All Time Eye Hookup Longwear Shadow in Pennylane and Quicksand and 2 new shades of their Gloss Gorgeous Stay On Lip Stain in Hush and Sassy.  I have yet to try All Time Eye so I thought nows the time to pick up one of these new shades.  I went with Quicksand, a neutral beige color knowing I could use it alone or as a base for a more dramatic look.

Word On All Time Eye in Quicksand:  It’s really easy to apply.  The design is a wand like you would see for like concealer.  I apply it all over my lid and underneath and then using my pinkie I blend into the skin by lightly patting so there’s no hard lines.  I recommend applying one eye at a time.

Word on Gloss Gorgeous in Hush:  I kinda forgot how much I like the Gloss Gorgeous formulas.  I’ve gotten away from wearing gloss and really just wear balms or lipsticks, but Gloss Gorgeous is a thick gloss that’s not too sticky, that as it wears leaves a nice lip stain behind.  So you can apply this before you leave and have a good look all day long!  Hush is a really neutral light pink that wears almost sheer depending on your coloring.  It’s just the lightest pink tint which I really like for summer.

Both of these new shades I picked up work really well for a neutral summer makeup look and are super long lasting.  Especially work well for when you don’t really want to look like your wearing makeup (say at the beach/pool or playing in your summer softball league, etc.)  These shades would also be really good for a makeup beginner.  Additionally, they are super quick and easy to apply so when your too hot to do much of anything, reach for these.
