Why Not Rock A Blazer – mark. Tipping The Scales Jacket

Rocking Blazer - mark. Tipping The Scales Jacket

Rocking Blazer – mark. Tipping The Scales Jacket

Rock a blazer?  Why not!  This time of year, pre-spring if you will, is the perfect time to rock a blazer!  It’s still chilly so a jacket you can wear like a top is the best way to stay chic and warm.  You can rock a blazer with your work wear or your going out clothes which is why the investment is well worth it.  I’m currently rocking the mark. Tipping The Scales Jacket.  It isn’t like anything I already own with it’s take on a tux jacket made more casual with snakeskin print in a more casual material.

I rocked my mark. Tipping Scales Blazer with a black tee and blush columnist pants from Express.  There’s these slight pinky undertones to the grays in the blazer so my blush pants looked killer with it for a wear to work outfit.

For my accessories I went with the Feathered Friend Necklace and Grows On You Bracelet from mark.  These accessories have been in heavy rotation lately!

Trending Tuesday: Après Ski

If the world of alicia was the internet #apresski would totally be trending.  Now that the glitz and glam of the holidays are over the winter weather definitely has me thinking all things cozy.  I’ve been obsessing over all things suitable for a chic winter weekend.  Think cozy layers with a crisp aesthetic, functional pieces with fab details in colors of the winter sky and scene.

The Color Pallet:  black, white, icy blues and grays make for a simplistic January pallet.  Pops of prints in fair isle, cable knit textures and even leopard look chic paired with them.

Cozy Layers:  Layer on the cozy with sweaters, knits and vests.  Layered looks achieve a level of chic a regular sweater by itself doesn’t achieve, and functionally way warmer!

Crisp Aesthetic and Cozy Textures: Maybe it’s because of the clean slate we get with the new year or that crisp clean winter air but monochromatic looks achieve a crisp aesthetic while adding in the right textures achieve that après ski chic.

Winter Weekend:  I’m ready to plan a little winter weekend getaway to Tahoe to play in the snow, take in the mountain splendor and live that cabin life!  Even if you just plan an afternoon sledding a winter weekend makes January tolerable.

Warm Layers:

Lucky for us folks who are always cold turtlenecks are back in!  And they’re the perfect layering piece.  Layering a turtleneck under a chic cape is a modern way to wear winter layers.  This mark. Outside Chance Cape in it’s Aspen chic print layers perfectly over a black and white striped turtleneck for a cozy winter look.

Tall Boots:

Lots of Layers

Lots of Layers

It’s like layers for your legs!  The extra insulation helps ward off winter’s cold while looking super chic!  I like a good heeled one but there are so many cute flat boots or even a mini heel.  Mine are an old pair from Shoedazzle but check out a few tall boots I like here, here and here.

When wearing lots of layers, accessories sometimes get lost.  Try layering a long necklaces over your layers, it won’t add bulk to your already bulky layers and helps draw the eye down keeping a long and lean look.  I like this mark. Feathered Friends Necklace which will work just as well in the winter/spring/summer/fall.   This winter try layered earrings like these mark. Ruffle Your Feathers Earring Set, ear jackets and cuffs are a huge trend this year. Finish off your look with a bag big enough for a long winter weekend with the mark. Carry All Handbag

“The Holidays are the perfect time to break out the winter color palette. Think whites, greys and light blues. To help keep you warm, throw on a faux fur vest. The “make me plush vest” by mark is just perfect with it’s faux fur collar and super soft, short faux fur lining. Then, to finish things off, you can’t go wrong with a great pair of booties.”  (read more)
