Week O’Nautical Trending Tuesday: Nautical Accents

If the world of alicia was the internet #nauticalaccents would totally be trending. Count it down! The unofficial start of summer, Memorial Weekend, is this weekend. I count it down with Week O’Nautical, where red, white and blue and nautical accents rule my life. This year its all about the nautical accents. Here’s what has me at attention!

Week O’Nautical – Red White and Blue

Red White and Blue for Week O'Nautical

Red White and Blue for Week O’Nautical

As we approach our most patriotic holiday I theme out my day to day in our most patriotic colors! Week O’Nautical is difficult this time around; a. It’s around 110 all week so, I’m hot, like super hot. b. I’ve worn pretty much all my nautical items on the blog already, and no one wants to see repeats up in here.  c.  The items I do have that are red white and blue aren’t necessarily nautical.  Whatever, ‘merica!

For the 4th I’ve been loving a bright dazzling blue with my red and white.  I’m always a fan of navy but this bright blue really pops for the summer holiday!  I paired a dazzling blue tank (Express) with a white lace pencil skirt (H&M) with red lace pumps (Shoedazzle) and red statement earrings!  (Avon).

For instant nautical feel just add this Avon Smooth Sailing Charm Bracelet!  I’ve been wearing this non-stop this summer!  Best $7.99 I spent!  I really like it layered but for this simple look I liked it cleanly by itself.  Plus it matches my nautical mani (check it here if you didn’t see yesterday’s post!)

With a simple look like this a fun printed bag is perfect!  This striped bowler bag (mark.) has a bit of a nautical feel with the stripes and a bit of a 4th of July feel with the bright cobalt accents!  You bet I’m caring this bag all week!

You can’t have a Red White and Blue look without a red lip!  Mine, courtesy of mark. All Butter Now in Fired Up ($11).  It’s actually the best summer red lip product I’ve used to date.  It’s bright and because it wears like a balm it has the perfect finish for summer and a little more laid back than a full on lipstick.  If you haven’t tried the Lip Butters yet DO SO!

If you haven’t noticed I’m totally wearing this hair style AGAIN!  When it’s this hot there’s no way I’m blow drying my hair.  Have you been inspired to bust your red white and blue this week!?  Check back for more Week O’Nautical all week long!

Week O’Nautical – Julep Sail Away Bombshell Maven Box

Julep Set Sail Collection for May

Julep Set Sail Collection for May

Ok so I was supposed to post this yesterday but the long weekend was way to enjoyable to be on the computer/tablet/etc. I definitely disconnected over Memorial Day weekend and I’m totally ok with it. So here’s my mani Monday post “going up, on a Tuesday!”

May Bombshell Maven Box

May Bombshell Maven Box

For May, Julep released a “Set Sail” collection based around nautical influences.  I HAD to opt in this month and get my monthly maven box in bombshell which included a purple creme with blue undertones (Denise) and a slightly off white creme (Vanna) with a lip crayon in a fuchsia (which I gave to my mom because it looked PERFECT on her).  Even though these shades aren’t your typical nautical red white and blue (which I was this close on getting instead) they still go perfectly with your nautical looks.  For my add on I added these anchor nail decals because as much as I liked my free-hand anchor last year (see here) this was WAY EASIER!  Oh and can we mention it came with salt water taffy from Ocean City MD, how fitting!

I really couldn’t decided on what I wanted to do with this box since I’ve been into just classically painted nails in one color with a great topcoat.  So I decided just to do 2 fingers in Vanna (white) and 3 in Denise (purple) with the anchors on my pointer and middle.

I have to say despite my horrible cuticles this nail look definitely was a favorite as of late.  It got a lot of attention randomly, like the check stand girl complimenting how great they looked and how she thought it was a gel mani.  Goes to prove how fantastic the Julep formula is!

Thumbs up for Julep!

As we are officially unofficially now in summer, and the long Memorial Day weekend is now over, so is my Week O’Nautical here on the blog… until the 4th of July that is.  Until then, let’s paint the town red!  and purple!  and white!  and all the other mani colors of summer!

Happy Memorial Day with Nautical Nails

You got a sneak peek of my mani here and my pedi here so its no surprise what I’ve been sporting all week, but here’s a little more.

I wanted to do something different but I wasn’t very inspired.  After some google images searches I still wasn’t too inspired.  I knew I wanted to wear gold on my fingers and I knew alllacquredup.com did a great nautical flag manicure with last year’s China Glaze Anchor’s Away collection, so I took that idea and ran with it for my toes.

I have on the bright orange from my Julep intro box,  Natasha.  I then tapped off my big toe and did a diagonal block or Essie’s Midnight Cami, a sparkling deep navy.  I then used one of those Sally Hansen Nail Art Pen’s to do the line, which I can’t recall the shade right now but I have to say… eh.  They just don’t work as great as I want them to.  The flow isn’t even so I can never get the line to be how I want it, clean and precise.  However, it works for now.

For my mani, I used that same deep navy, Essie Midnight Cami,  as my accent nails.  I usually only do my ring, but I wanted a little extra impact this time.  The gold glitter on top is also from my Julep maven box, Oscar.  I did it in a gradient approach and I just loved how this color combo glittered in the sun with the dark navy base and bright gold glitter.  My regular gold polish used on the rest of my fingers is China Glaze High Tech.  I love this shade, its not to warm or cool and super metallic!  Check out how it looked with my arm party chillin’ at a weekend BBQ.

I’m of course wearing my Borrowed from The Boys Watch once again and my Cross Your Fingers Ring in gold both from mark.  The white bracelets I randomly found in my jewelry box and I think they’re from H&M years and years ago, but was pretty pleased I found them to wear with this weekend’s nautical looks!
