If the world of alicia was the internet #urbansafari would totally be trending. Mix a little safari, with a little bit modern, a touch of tropical, and a tinge of uptown and you get yourself some #urbansafari. Here’s what’s been inspiring me for the urban safari trend.
April showers brings May flowers… and spring skirts! Now that we’ve got warming temps the spring skirts are in full effect. This year I picked up a few new from my local Loft Outlet. If you are in the greater Sacramento area, head over to the the Folsom Premium Outlets and check out my friends at the Loft outlet! Not only will they hook you up with some great customer service, they’ll also fit you up right!
Out of my Loft Outlet finds, this navy crochet skirt has to be one of my fav’s. This is actually something that can work year round! For spring I paired it with a chambray top (also Loft Outlet) but will look equally as cute with a sleeveless blouse for summer or a sweater come fall.
Maybe I’m already in Week O’Nautical mood, but there’s something so clean about navy and white, which is why I LOVE this skirt paired with white accessories. I took some super trendy white accents and paired them with an otherwise more conservative look. Thought you couldn’t wear the lucite heels trend? Well, you’re wrong! Try these mark. So Clear To Me Sandals with your spring skirts as a way to wear the trend. The mark. Total Perfection Bag is also the perfect spring/summer bag to add to your collection this year.
When re-freshing your wardrobe for spring try mixing classic cuts from places like Loft Outlet with super on trend pieces from mark, it makes dressing way more fun! You can shop my bag, shoes, jewelry and beauty at my eBoutique, http://www.youravon.com/aliciahessinger
If the world of Alicia was the internet inspo for September would totally be trending! September for me is always a love/hate relationship. I LOVE August, summer, hot temps and long days. September is the start to the end of all of that… but also the start of more things I love, Penn State football, all football, apple hill (for my nor cal’ers) and all the fun events in September. Luckily it’s still summer hot here and we technically have a few weeks left of summer so here’s what’s inspiring me for September!
This month I’m really feeling all shades of blues, especially navy, camels and nudes, red and burgundy with a bit of neutral blush tones and light greys. Think very collegiate shades.
Mad For Plaid
Just as inspiring as a color pallet I always have a print I gravitate toward. September it’s always plaid and menswear fabric inspired prints.
I saw this pic of Lauren for her September LC Lauren Conrad Collection ad and I immediately was smitten. This is what September beauty is about, flawless skin, a light and bright eye with a classic wing liner, full lashes and a bright but deep berry lip. I already use her staple eyeliner, mark. On The Edge Liquid Liner and I think I can find a similar lip shade!
If pumpkin everything is the motto for October then apple everything is the inspo for September! I’ll be sure to make my favorite apple crisp, take a visit to Apple Hill and light a few of my favorite apple scented candles this month. I totally like apple flavors way more than pumpkin!
What is inspiring you this September? Any traditions you like to bust out come September?
If the world of Alicia was the internet #marble would totally be trending. I’m currently crushing on all things marble right now. It’s luxurious, clean and sharp which all translates when used unexpectedly in fashion and beyond. Here’s what’s inspiring me:
Marble Print T-Shirt Dress (mark. Soft T Dress)
Tech Marble Background Download (IvankaTrump.com)
Marble Heeled Boots (mark. Marbleized Heel Boot coming soon)
Marble Watch (Taste Timepiece)
See more Pinspiration and get inspired by clean sleek marble looks for not just your home but also your looks! I love idea of the DIY marble mugs with nail polish! And these shoes! It’s official, I need to marbleize my life.
If the world of Alicia was the internet, aztec would totally be trending. Aztec prints have been in for a hot minute but I really just couldn’t get into them at first because it just was a 90’s flashback and not in a good way. I’m talking hammer pants in aztec prints, kind of flashback. Like all old trends made new again, the trend came back modernized. I just had to wait for the right inspiration… or pinspiration! Here’s a few favorite aztec pinspiration! (and check out more on my pinterest board Summer Aztec)
I dabbled with some aztec influence this winter (as seen here) but the print fits summer so much better! Its fun, playful and colorful, everything a good summer trend needs to be. For me personally I’m loving the trend glitzed up and in more fun colors, not the dusty dessert shades. Which is why these mark. Aztec Empire shorts ($30) were the perfect pick for me to start with. I love the colors and the print, while a little 90’s-esq, its modernized. I’ve been fully pinspired so this week see how I styled these shorts 4 different ways: casual, fun, dressed up and for going out!
Have you been feeling the aztec trend lately? What pieces have you added or what pieces do you have your eye on?
In the world of Alicia if Week O’Nautical was a social media site these would be the most popular hastags used! In other words, this is why I dedicate a week to nautical inspiration… besides the fact that I’m a kid at heart and will take any excuse to theme out my day to day life.
Nautical stripes pretty much take any outfit to Week O’Nautical level. I’m inspired by every use of them (see #pinsperation below). My outfit today might not necessarily be super nautical but it is influenced. The thick black and white stripped dress from H&M is accessorized with a black vest, gold jewelry, a faux stone bracelet (Bohemian Rocks Bracelet $24 at my eBoutique) and a red bag. I think it meets Week O’Nautical standards with stripes, red and white! (sorry blue, we’ll see you tomorrow). Stripes are pretty much a staple in nautical dressing, check out past stripes during Week O’Nautical here:
and here! (just to show a few!)
The sights of the sea are solely responsible for nautical inspiration. Take the colors, shades of the ocean from navy to seafoam or the whites of a whitecap or a white sail from a sailboat sailing the sea or the reds, oranges, yellows and everything inbetween as the sun sets over the coastal horizon. All these shades are all the shades you go to when going nautical. There’s nothing quite as impressive as a seaside view, take the one above from a favorite blog I follow: http://sealaura.blogspot.com/ Instant happiness! (and check out sealaura for how to live life with a seaside influence)
Pretty much every look I’ve put together for Week O’Nautical involved accessories with shiny gold, burnished brass, ropes, hooks, chains, etc… all things essential to anchors and boats. In real life these items are for function in girl world they’re used for fashion. I love my rope necklace, that’s made an appearance in Week O’Nautical more than once. Today I used the inspiration once again with my shiny gold accessories, chain link bracelet and straps on my bag. (both vintage mark. keep an eye out for them in the sale section in my eBoutique). My watch even has a nautical like dial! PS. I’m OBSESSED with this Perfect Timing Watch ($40 – launching July 12th or get it now directly from me direct message to order or hit me up on the FB)
Besides the honor behind our armed services I really love a sailors uniform. Navy, white, double breasted jackets, sailor pants, stripes, gold, pride… Even vintage naval uniforms still have the trends down. I wonder if I can work tassels into my outfits???
Seems like all my inspiration these days comes from Pinterest, but really, how can it not. Its one giant web based inspiration board. Ever since the capsule collection release of Instant Vacation Hamptons from mark. I’ve been using my Instant Vacation Hamptons board on pinterest to pin all my nautical inspiration. Check what inspires me and follow!
