Imitation is the greatest form of flattery. Express, be flattered, because I want to imitate your looks… and I did! After seeing this look in the May mailer I had to copy cat it. So let’s break it down… black peplum top + black slim fitting pants + black pointy toe pumps + arm party + black sunglasses = one super chic look!
With the KILLER Memorial Weekend sales I was able to pick up this peplum top from Express for ONLY $17! I’ve been thinking about this look since the moment I got the mailer so I knew first time I wore the top I was recreating this outfit! The peplum trend is one I’ve been wanting to try for quite some time and Express has had some really awesome offerings, but I knew a simple basic black top I’d get the most use out of and be able to take it past its fad.
Of course I had to make it my own. With such a simple canvas you could really take this look many ways. I started with what I already had, slim fitting black pants (also from Express), pointed toe pumps from Shoedazzle, some edgy jewelry from mark. and my new favorite bag, the High Style Convertable bag, also from mark, and of course my go-to Marc Jacobs sunglasses.
The necklace and earrings are old favorites from mark. but the Rock The Place Ring ($20) is a hot new arrival at my eboutique: http://ahessinger.mymarkstore.com. You can also get the High Style Convertible Bag ($40) at my eboutique. I like the dark, hematite and silver tones with this look, they make it a great Friday night outfit!
Putting a look together doesn’t have to take all that much effort, just be inspired by something you see and immitate it! Express is one of my favorite brands so I love getting their emails and mailers to be inspired by their looks. What are some of your favorites to be inspired by? Have you copy catted a favorite look? Maybe you’ll flatter me by imitating my copy cat look!

This is an awesome look, very sophisticated and practical.
Thanks mucho! I agree, its one of those outfits that can take you pretty much anywhere and not look like you’re trying to hard or too little!

I finally found the perfect outfit for everything. This is very good to know for someone like me whose daughter hardly wants to be seen in public with me because I “don’t know how to dress”. She’s 3.5!
