This Labor Day weekend marks my 8th year anniversary of being a Californian. Let’s take this back to 2005, I just graduated from PSU with my Econ degree in the spring, spent my summer home with mom and then packed my bags and flew out to California to start the fall with a new career with my first day being that Tuesday after Labor Day. Fast forward to Labor Day weekend 2013. This weekend I’m celebrating with my Nittany Lions winning their season opener and 8yrs at Dorado Software. Now that I’ve spent longer of my adult life as a Californian than a Pennsylvanian I’ve adopted in some California cool style.

The laid back vibe in California definitely translates through style. For my look I picked easy pieces like this nautical stripped dress with an asymmetrical hemline that I picked up during my Hawaiian vacation! I paired it with a simple capri sandal from Old Navy, the mark. For Shore Bag (now on clearance at http://www.youravon.com/aliciahessinger) and chic jewelry in gold, beads and summer friendly turquoise.

I mixed the two bracelets I also picked up in Hawaii made of black coral and turquoise with mark. m.powerment pieces and the mark. Pretty Stellar ring (contact if interested). A cool CA look like this requires easy beach waves and bronzey makeup.

I used mark. Curl Commander and Sexy Hair beach spray on wet hair and scrunched. I followed it up with mark. Curl to Curl spray throughout the day. I used mark. Pro Bronze on my cheeks and the California eye pallet from July’s ipsy bag! I used shades Malibu & San Francisco together for my easy eye look
Then I just lined my with my favorite liquid liner mark. Get In Line and Lash Act mascara in blackest black

I remember that first day of my real job like it was yesterday. Driving down from Lake Tahoe in the wee hours of the morning after spending the last few days of my summer lakeside with the family. I most importantly remember what I wore, black linen wide leg ankle pants with a black short sleeve silk sweater. It really was not that put together but I was clueless on what I should be wearing, esp to combat the hot Nor Cal heat. In the last 8 yrs a lot has changed a lot hasen’t… but I’m happy the opportunities Dorado has given me & I have access to all this California style!
