Holiday Styling Tip: Traditional Holiday Colors
Holiday Styling Tip: Traditional Holiday Colors

The holiday season is officially upon us!  Which basically means from now util New Years I’m themeing out my days with a little holiday cheer, mainly by wearing holiday colors!  Nothing signals the holidays more than traditional red and green.  Jill from My Sweet Obsessions and I have a few tips on how to wear the traditional red and green this holiday without looking like that crazy lady!

1.  Go one color all over!

Pick one color, red or green, and go bold!  Wear the all over shade as your base.  Even though typically this time of year I’m usually in red, but a dark green shirtdress is just as festive.  The mark. Everything Goes Shirtdress ($40) is the perfect pick!

2.  Stick to a classic shape.

When going all over in one color sticking to classic shapes keeps the look chic.  This also makes it more appropriate for daytime wear.  The shirtdress styling in the mark. Everything Goes Shirtdress is a cut that’s not only flattering on any shape, it’s also fitting for every occasion.  You might remember it as my pick for a transitional fall, you can see just how versatile this dress is!  Just unroll the tab sleeves and you have a winter look!  You could also add some tights and boots for colder weather too.

3.  Accent in red (or green).

Because I’m going all-over green I’m accenting in red.  The small pops of red tie in the traditional red and green colors without going overboard.  Jewelry and shoes are the easiest and most logical but also think about places like your belt!  A red belt would of been awesome for my look, but I don’t have one. 😦  Next best thing, add a broach to the green belt that came with the dress!  The Avon 2014 Scarlet Collection Pin ($14.99) is the perfect little blingy broach for the task… and you might remember it from its staring role I’m my wedding!  I brought in our last styling tip with a little red plaid in my Shoedazzle pumps!

Beauty is often forgotten as a part of your total look.  Try a green eyeliner like mark. No Place To Run in Grassroots ($9).  Pair it with a shimmery gold shadow from the Eye Dream Of Glam Eye Pallet ($40 last seen here and here) and a red matte lip, Avon Ultra Color Lipstick in Matte Ruby ($5.99).  Don’t forget your nails!  Add red or green to your tips like mark. 5.  Go For Gold.

Jill’s Styling Tip:  Think outside the box with nontraditional shades of the traditional holiday colors of green and red

“Think of nontraditional shades of the traditional holiday colors in lime green and bright red. Balance out the bright colored top and scarf with a neutral black bottom. Add additional visual interest by wearing a black pant like the Night Gaze Jacquard Pant by mark in damask, jacquard fabric. These pants are perfect for the Holiday Season and beyond!” Jill from My Sweet Obsessions
