I don’t host Thanksgiving but I do host a Friendsgiving before the big turkey day! The difference between planning what to wear when your attending (see here) vs when you’re hosting is all about being strategic for function and time. We all know when you host, you are running around like a chicken with your head cut off, and getting ready is usually what suffers.

Word Of Alicia on what to wear:  Start the day off with solid black leggings, ones that are more like work out material than a knit.  That way they easily dust/wipe/lint roll off anything you get on them while prepping.  Wear a t-shirt during prep time then switch to a short sleeve party top as the time gets closer.   A short sleeve top because you don’t want to pushing your sleeves up while you are cooking and cleaning, and you’ll probably be warm from running around.

As the hostess you’ll be doing a lot of the work so bracelets and rings aren’t really functional, I suggest going with a statement necklace or earring.  I decided to wear with this a black velvet and crystal choker necklace with some crystal earrings.

I am a no shoes house so why would I wear shoes and break this rule?  I opted for a sparkly slipper instead!  Mine are from last year but Avon currently as some SUPER cute ones this year.  My last little trick is to go with your quick updo.  Keeps the hair out of the face while prepping but looks chic while hosting.
