The Must Have Summer Dress – mark. New Angled Slip Dress

mark. New Angled Slip Dress

mark. New Angled Slip Dress

No shocker here that the mark. New Angled Slip Dress is my pick for a must-have this summer. You’ve already seen it here and here, but the real reason this dress is a winner is because it’s reversible! How killer is that!? That’s 2 dresses for the price of one!  Win win!

The Turquoise Side Of The New Angled Slip Dress

The Turquoise Side Of The New Angled Slip Dress

This slip dress is royal blue on one side that reverses to a cool turquoise on the other.  While on the turquoise side it peeps the royal blue just enough to make you go mmmmm!

Peep Of Blue

For summer I totally paired this colorful number with more color!  The coral ombre clutch, mark. Fade To Fab is also a must-have for summer (see here and here).  My colorful pumps (Target, old) channel that Buenos Aires Vibe, while my gold jewelry and belt ties it all together.

Not only is the dress multi-functional but so is my fedora!  The mark. From The Top Fedora takes a basic Panama hat and makes it so you can customize it to match your outfit with it’s interchangeable bands.  It comes with a basic black band, a tropical floral one and a this turquoise one.  Genius, pure genius!  I’m a total hat person especially in the summer when I’m at the lake and need to cover up that not so awesome hair (or bad roots, usually it’s bad roots).  So instead of needing to buy a billion hats to match my billion outfits I now just need one!  With these three bands one is bound to match what I’m wearing.

The mark. New Angled Slip Dress, Fade To Fab Cluch, From The Top Fedora and Throw Some Shade Sunglasses are 4 pieces you can add into your collection and be SET for summer.  These are perfectly packable for your summer vacations and multi-functional.  So you save money, and suitcase space to make budget and room for that extra souvenir.  There’s a reason why this is the third time I’ve posted about these pieces haha.

Wanderlust August: Nevada Beach South Lake Tahoe

Nevada Beach South Lake Tahoe

Nevada Beach South Lake Tahoe

August is by far my favorite month of the year… it might be because I celebrate my birthday all month long!  A good friend starts the month off for her birthday and I continue it on until mine at the end of August.  This year we took a birthday day trip to Nevada Beach in South Lake Tahoe.

We originally planned to hit up Zephyr Cove however a very large wedding going on made that nearly impossible.  So went two beaches up to Nevada Beach, which was the best idea!  It’s large enough to handle a full crowd but not be on top of each other and it has a pavilion for use and access to kayak and paddle board rentals.  One thing to note it is not dog friendly.

If you’re looking for a little less action than Zephyr Cove then go immediately to Nevada Beach!  It was a great way to spend the day celebrating with friends and lucky for us to watch a really cool storm roll in!  There’s also a campground with the beach for extended beach day options!

Word Of Alicia Review: mark. Instant Vacation Saint Barts Soleil Fragrance

mark. Instant Vacation Saint Barts Soleil Fragrance

Scent is such a personal thing.  For me a certain scent can bring back major memories, instantly make me happy or at the other end of the spectrum gross me out or give me a headache.  Needless to say ordering a new scent online is almost a pointless activity. Unless you know what to look for.  Historically I like clean scents that are light and fresh.  Which is why for the past 4 years the favorite perfumes in my collection are all from the mark. Instant Vacation collections.  Knowing that I’ve liked so many of their past scents when mark. released the Instant Vacation Saint Barts Soleil fragrance duo I knew I was going to take a chance and order it without smelling it.  It did not disappoint.

mark. Saint Barts Soleil Eau De Toilette Spray $24

mark. Saint Barts Soleil Eau De Toilette Spray $24

Saint Barts Soleil Eau De Toilette Spray is described as a luxe blend of fresh, breezy Caribbean waters; rich, exotic coconut milk and bold beautiful frangipani flower takes your senses on a journey to a glam island resort.  Paired with the eau de toilette spray is the Saint Barts Soleil Shimmering Body Lotion.  Inspired by the shimmering waters and silky sands of Saint Barts, this hydrating luminizer leaves your skin with a radiant glow and a wisp of the Saint Barts Soleil fragrance.  Layer under the eau de toilette spray for a luxurious, total-scent experience.

Layer mark. Saint Barts Shimmering Lotion under the Eau De Toilette Spray for Extra Staying Power

Personally this is right up my ally.  If you are familiar with past mark. Instant Vacation releases, its like a  combo of the Marrakesh scent mixed with the original Instant Vacation scent.  I adore anything coconut and this gives just the right amount of it to not smell like you just applied Hawaiian Tropic (which by the way I also really enjoy).  Its sophisticated enough for all ages and just like I like fresh, clean and light, like a summer fragrance should be.  Because it is a Eau De Toilette I do re-apply hours later if its going to be a long 15 hour type of day.  The shimmering lotion is the same formula as the past mark. Hamptons lotion but obviously with this new scent.  Its not as moisturizing as my typical Whipped Up Body Butter I use daily, but as a nice, light lotion it works.  The shimmer isn’t glittery but a nice, well, shimmer.  I really like it on my legs.  And just like any other fragrance duos layering helps the staying power.  At $24 for the Eau De Toilette Spray and $14 for the Shimmering Lotion this is a super affordable duo.  You can get them at http://www.youravon.com/aliciahessinger

Word Of Alicia Review:  My new go-to must have scent.  At a super affordable price point I won’t mind wearing it everyday and everywhere.  The shimmer lotion is just a summer must have in general but also having this killer scent is win win.  Not to strong for work/day but intense enough to wear out at night.  Definitely a scent that instantly takes me to a warm summery happy place.  Shop the mark. Word Of Alicia Review: mark. Instant Vacation Saint Barts Island Eyes and Island Beauty

I become a little kid in a candy store when mark. releases their Instant Vacation capsule collections.  The past years took us to Marrakech, The Hamptons, Ibiza, and more… and now Saint Barts!  The exclusive French Island… oh la la!  J’adore the thoughtfulness of these capsule collections, its starts with a fragrance, inspires fashion and accessories and completes the look with beauty.  Like I said, I’m an excited kid so I got pretty much the entire collection and I’m going to review and share with you all the soleil-filled goodness starting with the mark. Island Eyes Color Pallet ($16) and Island Beauty Face Compact ($16)

The tropical themed package design already takes me on an instant vacation!  Then I open up the boxes to see it on the case, I’m geeking out over package design!  Let’s be honest, its the small things in life, like clever package design, that makes me happy.  mark. has never disappointed in this department.

Before I get into the beautiful shades lets talk bang for buck.  For $16 you get 8 eyeshadows in one slim pallet.  Enough to last you through your summer and more, and the ability to create so many different looks from clean and natural to smokey and bold!  Then pair it with the Island Beauty Face Compact you have even more options!  The Island Beauty compact has 3 shades to mix and match on both the face and eye for only $16!  So really $32 for 11 expertly paired and flattering shades.  Your summer beauty is DONE!

Beautiful sunwashed eye shades and bronzy goodness!

Beautiful sunwashed eye shades and bronzy goodness!

The Island Eyes Pallet is the perfect sunwashed shades to create such pretty looks on any skin tone.  I’m fair to medium with pink undertones and not a single shade looked bad on me, and looked just as great on my darker, olive skinned friend!  And SO PRETTY!  They’re subtle and summery exactly what you would want during the summer.  Then pair them with the corals and bronze from the face pallet, perfection!  The highlight isn’t glittery either, its the perfect shimmer in the Island Beauty face compact.  I will be buying a back up!  The colors blend so well together, not orangy in the least and stay all day!  This has to be some of my favorite beauty releases from mark. ever.  I love the beachy summery shades.  Two slim compacts is all you need to toss in your bag for your spring break and summer vacations.

Enjoying a Coconut Treat in Maui

Enjoying a Coconut Treat in Maui

If the world of alicia was the internet then today the top trending search would be #coconuttreat  I’m such a sucker for anything coconut!  Not only is it delicious (as a kid it was my favorite snack) but it also just smells like summer (can we say hawaiian tropic!)  Here are my top 5 coconut treats that I’m obsessing over

#bathandbody

mark. Coconut Treat Body Line

mark. Coconut Treat Body Line

This entire line of bath and body products from mark. in coconut treat are straight out of paradise!  The scent is described as a deliciously tropical indulgence, with refreshing coconut water and mandarin mingling with luscious hazelnut and coconut cream.  Basically, in licia-language its a warm coconut smell with sweet undertones.  It’s not overpowering or too beachy so you can wear it for all occasions.  This whole line is a must!  Layer by starting with Three’s A Charm 3-in-1 cleanser (8) that can be used as a body wash, bubble bath or shampoo!  Follow up with Whipped Up Body Butter ($10), my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE, super moisturizing and creamy.  The finish off with Get Misty Body Mist ($14) for lasting smell-delish-all-day power!  I’ve never been more excited about a bath and body line since Bath and Body Works return of Vanilla Bean Noel each Christmas.  Shop the collection at my eBoutique.

#sheenstealer

mark. Sheen Stealer Coconut Treat

The Sheen Stealer Dry Oil Body Spray ($10) in #coconuttreat is so awesome it is trending all on its own!  If you know me, you know I’m a huge advocate for oils, from hair to body to cuticles… Nothing quite does the job like a good nutrient rich oil.  This one not only is an easy to use spray dry oil but it smells so divine!  AND it makes your tan look WAY better.  Just spray this on your arms and chest for a glowing finish.  Then spray a line down your legs which will also make them look longer and tanner!  This gives your bod a back from the beach glow that just screams summer!  Shop it at my eBoutique.

#coconutwater

Coconut water straight from the coconut!

Coconut water straight from the coconut!

The power of coconut water is like that of a miracle!  Seriously, its the most hydrating and it tastes the best straight from the coconut.  Yes, some of you might think its bitter, so it might be an acquired taste, but once you acquire it you’ll never look back!  To help break you in try one of the ones flavored with pineapple or mango.  You can get these at your local grocery store.  I prefer the large coconut you have to machete open as my #coconuttreat

PS.  You might recall that Phone It In Bag from my Hawaii must-haves 🙂

#hawaiiantropictanningoil

Pool Days

Pool Days

Yes, yes I know, tanning is bad.  Sun is bad.  But life is too short not for me to enjoy my favorite pastime.  Sunbathing!  I have a hard time getting color, I just say I have natural sunscreen.  The only thing that works for me is Hawaiian Tropic Tanning Oil and a day of sun.  Plus I absolutely LOVE the strong coconut smell!  To me this IS summer and the ultimate #coconuttreat

#coconutcream

Berries and Coconut Cream

Berries and Coconut Cream

For a REAL #coconuttreat this pretty much is my ideal of yummy!  For the perfect summer breakfast, snack, dessert, party favorite try this recipe from Love and Lemmons for Berries and Coconut Cream.  After finding it on pinterest I’ve been obsessed ever since.  This would be great at a summer picnic, super easy and really yummy!

I hope you’re inspired to get some #coconuttreat trending in your world.

5 Must Haves for a Hawaiian Vacation

I kicked off the summer in Maui, Hawaii… lucky, I know!!!  It def was a trip of a lifetime spent with good family and friends, but being my first time there I didn’t really know what to expect… or pack!  Let’s just say I did not pack right for 8 days in a tropical laid back beach town.  Even though what I brought wasn’t ideal I had enough to make do, and I had a few key items that were absolutely essential!  So if you plan on visiting the islands anytime in the future here’s my top 5 must-haves to pack!

1.  mark. Phone It In Bag ($28)

Phone It In Bag Touring Maui

Phone It In Bag Touring Maui

mark. Phone It In Bag from snorkeling to fruit stand

mark. Phone It In Bag from snorkeling to fruit stand

This seriously was my lifesaver!  Easy, transportable, fit all the essentials and in a fun tropical color!  This bag perfectly fit my phone, point and shoot camera, spf lip product, my mark. hookup with eyeliner and waterproof mascara, and my cash and cards.  Everything I needed out and about and in a cross body bag style I was hands free for activities!  It made life so much easier by just grabbing this and going and its compact size kept it functional from everything from hiking up a volcano crater to beachside lounging!  Not only was this essential for Hawaii pretty much any vacation you take this would prove its worth.  You can pick up this bag at my eBoutique http://www.youravon.com/aliciahessinger

2.  A simple gold bracelet

Dainty Gold And The Ocean

Dainty Gold And The Ocean

I picked up this m.powerment bracelet by mark. right before my trip and I didn’t take it off the entire time I was there.  It was just enough to be laid back but still give some shine.  It worked well swimming in the ocean, nights out, hiking, lounging and even in the shower.  I do not lie when I said I didn’t take it off.  I just knew that even if I didn’t put anything else on besides my bathing suit that this gave me a little extra something but didn’t make me look like I was overdoing it at all!  This bracelet is no longer available but you can accomplish the same thing with any dainty gold bracelet.  Try the LC Lauren Conrad for Kohls line, they have a great offering at affordable prices.

3.  Printed Rubber Flip Flops

Tropical Flipflops in a Tropical Local

Tropical Flipflops in a Tropical Local

I’m a heels wearer through and through… even when I really shouldn’t be, but the laid back Island life required nothing but flip flops and I totally was on board.  I picked these tropical print ones from Old Navy for about $3, the BEST place to get rubber flip flops.  Tons of styles and colors and the best prices out there and I can attest to the quality.  These ones took me on a hike through the bamboo forest to see one of the best waterfalls.  If I can wear a pair of flip flops on a hike, through the sand and during all my ocean and beach days you know they’re good.  Now if you would like to step up your game try a pair of Havaianas, or if you want to be more like the locals try some from surf brands like Reef, or if you want to be more like the jet setting tourists grab the designer Tory Burch‘s!

4.  mark. Keep It Going Long Wear Waterproof Liner and Shadow in Naturalist

mark. Keep It Going in Naturalist

mark. Keep It Going in Naturalist

Pretty much everyday during my vacation I somehow ended up in the ocean, which I think is pretty common place in Maui.  So you needed to plan your look with a bathing suit underneath, versatile easy hair, and a makeup look that wasn’t overdone… and won’t smear all over your face once you body surf a wave or encountering the heat and humidity.  Enter in Keep It Going in Naturalist, this was my go to for mermaid eyes!  The duo consists of a deep coppery shimmery brown shade and a shimmery teal shade.  With these 2 combos I pretty much could create a go to look on my eyes that made me look a little put together but not overdone.  Some days I just lined my eyes in the brown or the teal or half teal half brown.  Other days I used my finger and applied the shimmery shades all over my lid.  If I needed a little extra definition at night I used the brown to shade my crease and the teal all over the lid.  Plus, it lasts and stays put and is travel friendly in size, no liquids so no problem flying with it!  (PS. see me wearing it here)

5.  Mastering beach waves

Everyone else windblown, Me, perfect beach waves

Everyone else windblown, Me, perfect beach waves

There was absolutely no way I was blow drying my hair in that humidity!  I’m totally a weather snob here in dry hot Nor-Cal so any bit of humidity just makes me miserable… but not my hair.  Besides, like I said before, you end up in the ocean sometime during the day so no need for a blowout just beachy waves.  Plus it’s what all the locals look like anyways, with that great sea salt and sand that ends up in your hair.  I mastered the beach waves with mark. Curl To Curl spray ($14 – available at http://www.youravon.com/aliciahessinger).  On wet hair I just sprayed this all over and scrunched.  Through out the day if things started to frizz I just wet my hands and scrunched some more.  Post ocean adventures I just combed through my hair then sprayed a little more and scrunched again.  Easy as that!  If your hair doesn’t hold then try pairing it with mark. Curl Commander Gel ($16).  This gel is soft not crunchy and will really hold the style.  AND NOW mark. has travel friendly mini’s!  ($8 each) at http://www.youravon.com/aliciahessinger

Trending – Brazilian Cuts

Ok, maybe this isn’t a must have more like an observation but all the locals had this style on.  I personally do not own this style but I saw it all over the place!  If you’ve been wanting to try this style out the Hawaiian Islands are the best place for it, you’ll fit right in.  Victoria’s Secret has a lot of options in this style.  Pair it with some cut off jean shorts and a top that’s loose cut so your bathing suit top shows through particularly in a sheer, burnout, crochet or lace fabric and you’ll have nailed the Isle Style.  Top it with a straw fedora or a snap back over your beachy waves!

Spring Break Nails – Essie Absolutely Shore and A Crewed Interest

When we decided to go to Monterey for spring break I knew I wanted a fun nail in coastal shades.  Looking through my colors last spring’s favorite Essie’s A Crewed Interest stood out and since I’ve been obsessing over mint for the last year with a heavy emphasis these last few months I decided to freehand a fun chevron tip in Essie’s Absolutely Shore.

Spring Break Mani

Spring Break Mani

Pretty sure there’s not a better backdrop to do a mani pic then a bed of sea shells.  Of course my obsession ring came along too, the In A Flash Ring ($16) from my eBoutique:  http://www.youravon.com/aliciahessinger

Essie’s Absolutely Shore is the perfect spring coastal beach shade, and I’m “absolutely sure” about that.  So sure, I did my toes in it!  Even though our spring break was only a day trip it was well worth it to feel the sand on my toes, a feeling that NEVER gets old!

Lake Nails – Peach and Blue

When I knew I was going on the houseboat at Bullards Bar I knew I had to do a mani/pedi in relaxing on the lake, barefoot all day err day type of way.  I knew I didn’t want neons or brights because being surrounded by such natural beauty I needed something more muted and relaxed but still fun, because IT IS summer vacation!

Enter in my color blocked fingers and shimmering blue toes!

Peach and Blue Color Blocking

Peach and Blue Color Blocking

Shimmery Blue Pedi

Shimmery Blue Pedi

These are from lounging on the houseboat deck in the shade scouting out the amazing morning glass-like lake enjoying my chai.  Yes it was as amazing as it sounds.  I totally was going to colorblock my whole hand but preparing and packing got the best of me so I settled for an accent nail.  This was the quick and easy way to get a mani with some interest.  In retrospect I should of tapped off my nail lower creating a half and half color blocking.

Essie A Crewed Interest and Smooth Sailing

Essie A Crewed Interest and Smooth Sailing

For my relaxed muted nails in peach and blue I used Essie’s A Crewed Interest and Smooth Sailing.  Its not surprise I’ve been wearing the crap out of the peach cream A Crewed Interest since it was released this spring.  Smooth Sailing, while beautiful in the bottle with its periwinkle blue with silver/purple micro shimmer I’ve never worn it (summer 11 release).  I thought this occasion was perfect for me to bust it out!  Plus with a name like Smooth Sailing its a match made for a houseboat vacation.  I usually think blues and greens look gaudy on my long nails which is why I kept the blue on my toes and just accented it.

I loved this pairing for the lake, I thought it had that vacation fun aspect while channeling all things lake-like with muted hues.  Plus it started out my week o’ nautical on the right pedicured foot!  (ps. sorry if my toes/feet aren’t so cute, just focus on the color!)
