Makeup Look To Master: Everyday Slay

Makeup Look To Master: Your Everyday Slay

Makeup Look To Master: Your Everyday Slay

The everyday makeup look is the hardest to perfect in my opinion, which is probably why mine is ever changing.  Not only do you need to find the best flattering shades, you also need to find the best formulas for your skin type and that work with your lifestyle… not to mention techniques and trends!  No one wants to look like they’re doing the same look they did when they first started wearing and experimenting with makeup.

First, determine what your everyday looks like.  What features you want to highlight, what products you like to use. Like for me, I like the look of a heavier eye and I don’t really like to wear foundation, so my look is going to be a more complicated eye look and a simpler face look.  For my lifestyle I need a look that works for my 9-5 that’s business casual, along with some after work and weekend casual actives.  Additionally, most of the year its super hot so I need something that doesn’t melt/sweat off and can handle my large pores.

My Go-To Everyday Makeup

My Go-To Everyday Makeup

Now that I’ve determined what my needs are, its time to slay!  I kid, I kid… I don’t slay I just like that it kinda rhymes… Anywho, I start with skincare straight out of the shower, a serum, eye cream and moisturizer.  Right now I’m using the Avon Anew Dual Elixir, the Anew Hydra Fusion Eye Serum and the Anew Ultimate Day Cream with SPF 25.

To battle my large pores and help battle the hot temps my face makeup starts with a primer, Ulta Poreless Face Primer.  Even though I said I don’t like foundation I’ve been wearing the Avon Magix Tinted Moisturizer in Light Medium.  It doesn’t feel like a foundation, or look like one, just blurs my imperfections and evens my skin tone all while looking natural.  Next, I follow up  with concealer under my eyes, on lids and on nose.  I use a fluffy brush and apply bronzer on the top of cheeks and forehead followed by blush on the apples of my cheeks.  Right now I’m using up my mark. Hooked Up Bronzer and been loving the Avon Blush Palette  from the spring.

Pinky Neutral Eyes and Liquid Liner

Pinky Neutral Eyes and Liquid Liner

For eyes, I stick to neutral pinks and taupes that are cool toned for my everyday.  Lately my go-to is a taupe shade in the transition area (from this holiday palette) and the Avon Glimmershadows in Rose Gold all over my lid and underneath.  From that same holiday palette I use a shimmery white to highlight my inner corners and brow bone.  I top it off with a winged eye using the Avon True Color SuperExtend Precise Liquid Liner in Black and Love and First Lash Mascara.  On my lips my everyday is some sort of balm or nourishing lipstick or oil, here I’m wearing some Burts Bee’s Lip Balm.

Just some side eye and RBF

Just some side eye and RBF

This is typically my everyday, all I do is tweak this look.  I tweak the eyeshadow colors and the lips most often.  Same eyeliner, same mascara, same blush/bronzer duo.  If I’m feeling really extra I’ll add a contour or highlight or maybe do my brows but for the most part this is it and easily re-createable even if you aren’t a liquid winged eyeliner fan, just swap in your fav black eyeliner (Glimmersticks are really easy to use!)

You can shop most of my go-to products that I used for this look at my eBoutique and today, June 6th, you can get FREE SHIPPING with a $25 order!  Perfect time to pick up some new makeup that are at lower price points.  I’d also suggest getting some Bug Guard as its on sale right now too!

Word Of Alicia:

This Avon True Color SuperExtend Precise Liquid Liner in black has been my #1 favorite liquid liner since they discontinued my long time mark. favorite.  What I like about this formula is its nice and opaque, goes on really smooth and lasts all day.  I can get expert precision with the shape and has a great grip.  More importantly, I can get that wing every time… and if its not awesome I can dab the felt tip to fill in, or thicker.  This applies to all 3 shades.

New Shades Like Hunter Green

New Shades Like Hunter Green!

My review on the colors themselves, black is an obvious win.  Sapphire Blue is really great not too dark not to bright, super wearable for day or night and still gives that definition you want from an eyeliner look.  Hunter Green isn’t as vibrant as I was hoping for.  It still looks good on, but I go into knowing its more of a softer look.  I also love that they put the color on the ends so you can easily determine which pen is what color!

Most excellent eyeliner but most horrible cap design.  What I don’t like about these eyeliners are how easy it is for the caps to come off.  I can’t tell you how many times in my makeup bag the cap comes off and it gets all over my hand when I reach in, plus when I loose the cap it dries out quicker.  That is why I keep these in a cup with my brushes to avoid cap loss.  My only other complaint is the amount of product.  Maybe its because I wear this everyday but I go through these so quick.  I usually buy two at a time because I know I’ll use one up before I order again.  Which isn’t to big of a deal because they are usually on sale for $4.99 or buy one get one deal, and even with the original price of $8 it is still a great price for a great product.  Overall, even with the poor cap design, these are still my favorite eyeliners.  Black on heavy repeat and now sapphire blue as well, hunter green as a random choice when I want something different.

How To: Awesome Cat Eye Tutorial with Makeup Artist Jamie Greenberg

Everyone who knows me knows I wear a winged line on the daily.  Even if I’m doing nothing else a winged line instantly makes me look awake and bright eyed.  If I could only have one makeup item, well two items, because my first pick would be concealer, but my second would be eyeliner!

I’ve been asked many a times how I do it but it’s one of those things that you need to see, and then practice and practice.  Then I saw this video that Jamie Greenberg did on her youtube channel.  (If you don’t follow her already, do so… like NOW!).  She lays it all out there, shows you how to get the perfect cat-eye AND shows you how to do it with every type of liner!

My daily eyeliner of choice is mark.’s liquid liner, which Jamie demonstrated with first.  The mark. On The Edge Eyeliner has recently been upgraded to a larger size but still a hookup.  Hookups have connectors so you can attach it to other items (other liners, glosses, mascara, etc) to build the perfect makeup bag go to that stashes away super easily!  Which makes it the perfect summer travel beauty must-have!  Check out the mark. In addition to mark. On The Edge Liner being updated, so was No Place To Run pencil liners which you saw Jamie demonstrating with using Navy Seal (navy shade).   This was a much needed update, they are much more user friendly and sharpen much better!  Check out my review here.  Navy seal has seen heavy rotation in the world of Alicia.  Even  better news, the felt tip liner is being revamped too!  Launching in August with new shades as well including both matte and shimmer shades.

Being an eyeliner aficionado I can tell you that mark. liners are the absolute best and most affordable I’ve ever used.  For something I use on the daily I need to be able to refresh my stock often and not break the bank.  Even more importantly I need it to look good, last all day and be easy to use!  Check, check and check!  You can shop the mark. eyeliners at my eBoutique:  http://www.youravon.com/aliciahessinger and be sure to follow Jamie Greenberg on YouTube
