Summer Solstice

Summer Solstice

Happy first day of summer!  I couldn’t be more excited for long summer days.  I have myself a little dinner and a movie date night so why not wear a killer summer dress!  Summer dresses are my favorite, they’re easy breezy and go with any occasion, kinda like a summer day.

Summer Trends

Summer Trends

I hit a few trends with this black midi dress from Express; button front, ribbed and midi!  It’s appropriately called the Ribbed Button Front Midi Dress.  It actually was a spring item that went out of stock online.  When mom was out visiting we hit up the real legit mall and I was able to swoop it up  and it did not disappoint.  (Its back in stock online btw, and in 3 colors!)  I love it as a summer dress because its so light weight and easy to wear it will be the perfect thing for 100+ days we hit here in the summer.

Because it is such a thin material I felt more comfortable layering it over a strappy bra cami for work. I work in a causal office so summer dresses are allowed, however you could layer this over a white crew neck t-shirt for a 90’s look if you need more coverage.

Summer Obsess-ories!

Summer Obsess-ories!

Summer Solstice calls for summer accessories!  Boater Hat by LC Lauren Conrad and some raffia flatforms from Shoedazzle fit the bill.  My Avon Summer Sands jewelry collection was the perfect compliment on top for some more summer obsessories.

Aztec Prints for Summer Nights Out!

S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y night!  And I’m ready for hit up the discotheque (aka the bar who occasionally has a dj) in one of summer’s hottest trends, aztec prints.  Being inspirited by these mark. Aztec Empire Shorts, I wanted to get my money’s worth and show how versatile aztec printed shorts can be with my 4th way of styling them for a hot summer night out.

Easily pair the mark. Aztec Empire shorts with  a black bra cami (Express) as your base and dress them up with some statement jewelry (mark.) for a look perfect for your hot summer nights out.  This mark. Lady Luxe Necklace (last seen here) is nothing short of a statement, plus the detailing resembles a little aztec print itself!  (coming to clearance at my eboutique!).  I matched the chain detailing of the necklace to the mark. Hang With Me Hoops and Ring Me Up Double Ring.  (last seen here and here respectively).  Finish it off with the mark. Sparkle In A Snap bracelet and my favorite night out clutch (last seen here) and some super tall wedges and my summer nights out got a little bit hotter.

Aztec Shorts 4 Ways: Mixed Prints

Sometimes you just have to mix it up and have some fun.  The print on these mark. Aztec Empire Shorts ($30) is so fun that I was inspired (see my inspiration post) to show how versatile these shorts are for summer by styling them 4 ways (check out Look #1 here).  So I decided to have some fun and mix it up… by mixing prints!

Mixing Prints: Aztec and B&W Stripes

Mixing Prints: Aztec and B&W Stripes

LOOK 2:  MIXING PRINTS AZTEC AND STRIPES – Black and White stripped tank, fun jewelry, neon clutch, oversized shades and strappy flat sandals.

Mixing Prints with mark. Aztec Empire Shorts

Mixing Prints with mark. Aztec Empire Shorts

I’m not a huge fan of mixing prints but done right the payoff is pretty, well, fun!  Stripes are the easiest print to mix and match with.  To break into mixing prints stick with classic colors, like my black and white tank here (Express, old).  The black and white stripes in the tank play off the black and white stripes in the shorts, just switching up directions.  Just for kicks, mix the prints with super fun accessories, coral jewelry (mark., old), a neon clutch (mark. Glam and Roll Jewelry Case used as a clutch), summer staple sunglasses (Coach) and flat strappy sandals in coral and snakeskin for more print mixing (Sam & Libby Karina Sandals, Target)!  Keep the accessories all in the same color family to mix and match them into your mixed prints to keep the look from going too overboard!

Fun Accessories Mix and Match with Mixed Prints

Fun Accessories Mix and Match with Mixed Prints

This look is definitely out of the box, but definitely way more fun than a plain old tank, shorts and flip flops.  For easy print mixing try stripes and fun accessories all in the same color family.  Life is too short not to have some fun, even if it is just in your outfit!  Give it a whirl and have some fun, like playing hopscotch on stepping stones!

Dressing Up Aztec Print Shorts

mark. Aztec Empire Shorts

I introduced the aztec trend into my wardrobe with these mark. Aztec Empire Shorts ($30).  After being inspired by pinterest I realized these shorts are way more versatile than I first thought.  So after being inspired (see my previous post) I decided to show you how crazy printed shorts can actually be super wearable for your summer wardrobe.  Here’s the first look of 4 ways to style aztec print shorts.

LOOK 1:  DRESSED UP AZTEC PRINT SHORTS – Sheer blouse, structured satchel, pumps, chain link watch and glitzy jewelry.

To dress up my mark. Aztec Empire Shorts I decided to pair it with a sheer blouse (LC Lauren Conrad Kohls) that picks up the mint coloring in the print and lady like accessories.  A black pair of pointed toe pumps grounds the look (Rino GX by Gwen Stefani for Shoedazzle) and finished it off with mark. accessories (Classic Hit Handbag, All In Good Time Watch and  All The Angles Earrings).

Trending Tuesday: #summeraztec

If the world of Alicia was the internet, aztec would totally be trending.  Aztec prints have been in for a hot minute but I really just couldn’t get into them at first because it just was a 90’s flashback and not in a good way.  I’m talking hammer pants in aztec prints, kind of flashback.  Like all old trends made new again, the trend came back modernized.  I just had to wait for the right inspiration… or pinspiration!  Here’s a few favorite aztec pinspiration!  (and check out more on my pinterest board Summer Aztec)

I dabbled with some aztec influence this winter (as seen here) but the print fits summer so much better!  Its fun, playful and colorful, everything a good summer trend needs to be.  For me personally I’m loving the trend glitzed up and in more fun colors, not the dusty dessert shades.  Which is why these mark. Aztec Empire shorts ($30) were the perfect pick for me to start with.  I love the colors and the print, while a little 90’s-esq, its modernized.  I’ve been fully pinspired so this week see how I styled these shorts 4 different ways:  casual, fun, dressed up and for going out!

Hello Summer: Coral and Turquoise

Happy First Official Day Of Summer!

Happy First Official Day Of Summer!

Happy 1st official day of summer!  The longest day of the year, my absolute favorite!  I love the long warm days of summer, especially those warm summer sunsets in stunning colors.  As the light blue sky transitions to deep darkness those oranges, reds, pinks and corals just warm right through which is no surprise why coral and turquoise are one of my favorite summer color pairings.  Work it into the wardrobe with a coral shirtdress with turquoise accents!

Coral and Turquoise For Summer

Coral and Turquoise For Summer

The mark. Coral Kiss Dress ($38) is the perfect coral dress, a summer must-have in my book.  The cut is comfy and flattering and works for more conservative environments but has youthful details like a triangle cutout back, gold button details and tone on tone trim.

With such a fun color, it’s really easy to play up the fun factor with turquoise accents, most notably in the mark. Get In The Groove Handbag ($48).  And what’s more fun then turquoise chevron print bag for summer!?  I was desperately wanting to switch to a new summer bag and when I saw mark. come out with this one I knew it was the PERFECT choice.  Fun and light with its bucket bag structure and canvas body and hello chevron… and turquoise chevron at that!!!

Turquoise and chevron don’t stop at the bag… take it all the way down to the toes with the mark. Multi Tribe Wedge ($40).  So basically mark. just HAD me… coral dress, turquoise chevron bag, chevron nude wedges… what is more Alicia for summer!?!  I mean ULTIMATE summer must-haves!  You know they’re good when I’m really a size 5 shoe and making the size 6’s work!

The only thing that could make this look any more Alicia was adding a fedora… so I did.  I instantly fell in love with the neon coral band on this hat from Charming Charlie.  Finish it off the look with the mark. Hang With Me Earrings and an arm party with the mark. Glimmer and Gleam Bracelets ($28), Mighty Pretty m.Powerment bracelet ($25) and Avon Signature Boyfriend Watch and my favorite turquoise ring from the Nail This Look Set ($28) tied together with a turquoise belt.

Besides this look being absolute Alicia-tastic its also super on trend for summer.  Coral and turquoise pair perfectly together for hot summer days and nights.  A little girly a lot of hot and will make your summer tan look stunning!  If you’re looking for a little something to update your wardrobe start with the Multi-Tribe Wedges ($40), take it to the next level with the Coral Kiss Dress ($38) and Get In The Groove Handbag ($48).  Three easy items to hit the summer in style.

Summer Summer Summer Pedi Time

Hot days, warm nights, short shorts and flip flops… summer is here!  As I get my summer glow on I need to start at the base, with a summer pedicure!  Cute summer sandals demand cute summer toes so here’s my top summer pedi shades for summer!

Summer 2014 Pedi Polish Trends

Summer 2014 Pedi Polish Trends

1.  Seafoam Mint – mark. Seafoam (from Nail This Look polish and ring set, last seen here), Essie Turquoise and Caicos (last seen here) or Avon Sea Breeze.  Instead of going with a pale mint go with one that leans more towards turquoise, aka seafoam.  For summer this really pairs well with silver, yellows and whites.

 2.  Summer Beige – Avon Barefoot Beige, Zoya Cho (last seen here) or Essie Cocktails and Coconuts.  Beige is a little darker than nude and will work better with your summer tan.  A beige on your toes is super work appropriate and really clean looking.  Pair it with white, navy and reds for your summer holidays!

 3.  Neon Pink – mark. Pink Spark (from the Nail This Look Color and Bracelet Set $28), China Glaze Shocking Pink or Avon Mega Watt in Pop.  Neons are a huge trend this season!  Replace your standard summer go to, coral, with a neon pink.  Your hot summer nights will thank you!  Pairs perfectly with blacks, whites and nudes!

 4.  Neon Orange – mark. Orange Blast (from the Nail This Look Color and Bracelet Set $28) or Essie Serial Shopper, Julep Natasha (last seen here).  Again with the neon trend but going with a super bright orange will definitely up your summer game.  Pairs well with golds, browns, greens and navy.

 5.  Bright and Happy Blue – Julep Monaco (last seen here) or mark. Azure (from the Nail This Look Color and Flip Flop Set $28).  Blues are a dime a dozen now and every collection for spring/summer seemed to include a bright and happy version of blue.  So I picked the two that are standing out the most to me, Julep Monaco is the perfect cobalt and mark. Azure is the perfect mid range blue which makes it more wearable.  Pairs well with silver, browns and pinks/corals.

Pedicures from the local nail joints are luxuries to me.  I go for my birthday and maybe a random special occasion here and there.  I just can’t seem to justify the $30-40 on a one time outing when I can achieve the same results, if not better, myself!  Just apply that $ you would spend on a trip to the nail salon and get the proper supplies and get many, many pedicures out of that same investment!  Here are my top must-have pedi products for at home pedicures… or just to maintain your summer feetsies!

1.  Cuticle RemoverAvon Nail Experts Instant Gel Cuticle Remover

2.  Foot Scrub – Avon Foot Works Beautiful Ginger and White Tea Smoothing Scrub

3.  Foot Brush – Avon Double Sided Foot Brush (coming soon)

4.  Foot Cream – Avon Foot Works Beautiful Ginger and White Tea Nourishing Cream

5.  Foot Soak – Avon Foot Works Restorative Milky Foot Soak

I was gifted the Avon Foot Works line many Christmas’ ago by my now Sister-In-Law and I haven’t found better foot care products since.  The prices are amazing and the formulas are just that amazing.  I’m currently loving the Beautiful Ginger and White Tea line because it smells so spa worthy.  If I were to add a #6 to this list I’d add the Avon Foot Works Beautiful Ginger and White Tea Clay Mask.  I put this on, let it dry then rinse off in the shower in the mornings.  It really helps my feet with the summer abuse I put them through and only takes like 2 minutes.

Foot Works Beautiful Ginger & White Tea 3-Piece Spa Treats Collection $7.99

Foot Works Beautiful Ginger & White Tea 3-Piece Spa Treats Collection $7.99

You can currently get the Foot Works Beautiful Ginger and White Tea 3-Piece Spa Treats Collection for $7.99… yes all 3 for $7.99!  Or for $9.99 get the Avon Foot Works Beautiful and Healthy 4-piece Fabulous Foot Collection which includes the foot soak mentioned above, the dual action pedi-peel, the overnight renewing foot cream and the bonus sized maximum strength cracked heel cream.  I mean for under $10 you can have what you need to do an at home pedi, then add a bottle of polish, a foot brush/pumice and cuticle cream and for the same price you’d spend one one trip to the salon you can do it on your own MANY times over.  Think of all the money you’re going to save that can go toward that summer vacation… or more nail polish!  Because let’s face it, I’m addicted.
