Sometimes you just have to mix it up and have some fun. The print on these mark. Aztec Empire Shorts ($30) is so fun that I was inspired (see my inspiration post) to show how versatile these shorts are for summer by styling them 4 ways (check out Look #1 here). So I decided to have some fun and mix it up… by mixing prints!

LOOK 2: MIXING PRINTS AZTEC AND STRIPES – Black and White stripped tank, fun jewelry, neon clutch, oversized shades and strappy flat sandals.

I’m not a huge fan of mixing prints but done right the payoff is pretty, well, fun! Stripes are the easiest print to mix and match with. To break into mixing prints stick with classic colors, like my black and white tank here (Express, old). The black and white stripes in the tank play off the black and white stripes in the shorts, just switching up directions. Just for kicks, mix the prints with super fun accessories, coral jewelry (mark., old), a neon clutch (mark. Glam and Roll Jewelry Case used as a clutch), summer staple sunglasses (Coach) and flat strappy sandals in coral and snakeskin for more print mixing (Sam & Libby Karina Sandals, Target)! Keep the accessories all in the same color family to mix and match them into your mixed prints to keep the look from going too overboard!

This look is definitely out of the box, but definitely way more fun than a plain old tank, shorts and flip flops. For easy print mixing try stripes and fun accessories all in the same color family. Life is too short not to have some fun, even if it is just in your outfit! Give it a whirl and have some fun, like playing hopscotch on stepping stones!
