Wearing A Summer Jumpsuit For Work

Wearing A Summer Jumpsuit For Work

Wearing A Summer Jumpsuit For Work

It’s wear and share Wednesday and I’m wearing my newest favorite summer jumpsuit… to work!  Wearing a summer jumpsuit for work doesn’t really sound appropriate or professional.  However, it totally can be!

Avon Ella Jumpsuit

Avon Ella Jumpsuit

Let’s start with the jumpsuit… this pretty blue number is the Avon Ella Jumpsuit ($39.99).  It features a sleeveless design with a keyhole neckline and a wide cropped leg with elastic waist.  And it has pockets, anything with pockets in instantly better.  This is the same material of the palm print one I loved from last year (see here) but what makes this one more work appropriate is its simple clean design in a solid color.

For work I layered it with a sleeveless suiting vest in black.  The quality fabric keeps this looking professional while the sleeveless design keeps it functional for hot summer weather.  I anchored this look in black to add a layer of sophistication.  My black strappy sandal works with the shorter hem length over say a chunky shoe, and of course my black Movato watch always looks clean.  I also kept my jewelry simple and clean with these Julia pear shaped earrings and a single bangle.

This look really works for work and play.  Head to happy hour and loose the vest for a warm summer nights look.  I really love a bright blue paired with black but this would also look fresh with a clean white.  If your office is chilly then pair a regular blazer over this for a wear to work look.  It has a lot of flexibility in your working girl wardrobe.

You can shop this blue jumpsuit as my eBoutique as I know its going to be a summer must-have and only $39.99!  This is a summer trend you can get a lot of milage out of from work to weekend.  It looks just as cute with your favorite slide and straw bag for a summer road-trip or beach vaca!  For a little extra inspo see how some celebs are wearing the trend!

Week O’Nautical: Working Girl

Week O'Nautical: Working Girl

Week O’Nautical: Working Girl

Can you believe it’s the last week of June already!? I felt like I was just doing my Week O’Nautical posts for Memorial Day… because I was.  Word of Alicia has been a little light in the month of June because I’ve been living that summer life with my summer vaca to the Bahamas, baseball games, Father’s Day, swimming, lake days, etc., but really it’s that work life that takes up most of my time.  Work clothes in the summer can sometime be difficult and tedious when you’re battling the heat and professionalism.  That doesn’t stop me from sporting my red white and blue in a nautical fashion as we count down to our most patriotic holiday and get a little extra time off from that 9-5.

Avon Ponte Peekaboo Lace Dress

Avon Ponte Peekaboo Lace Dress

You’ve already seen this Avon Ponte Peekaboo Lace-Hem dress here, but it’s the perfect work dress.  A stretchy knit so you don’t have to iron it, lightweight so good for summer heat, a longer hemline and a full shoulder for conservative offices, and it’s navy!  Perfect for a little summer nautical looks at work.  Unfortunately it is sold out in misses sizes, only women’s available currently, however it does come in black and white as well and if I were to pick a backup you know black and white would be it!

Week O'Nautical Wear To Work Outfit

Week O’Nautical Wear To Work Outfit

Most of us wear and re-wear the same thing to work.  Even though I’ve worn this dress a bunch of times I wear it with different accessories.  This time I’m able to give it a more nautical look with my accessories.  I pulled out this Avon Ms. Patriotic necklace set and nautical rope bracelet, but this time I added my new(er) Avon Pretty Chic Bracelet Watch and the lucite heel sandals I’ve been loving, mark. So Clear To Me Sandals.  For the finishing touch, wearing the new mark. Vinyl Lip Paint in Glamour.

Nautical Accessories

Nautical Accessories

As any working girl knows a key part to the work wardrobe is the work bag, so I could not of been more excited when I found this Michael Kors bag on clearance for $59 at T.J. Maxx!  A good work bag needs to be big and roomy for all the crap you have to shove in it, but it also has to be sturdy to hold that weight and chic to go with your polished work wear.  This red bag is perfect for the upcoming holiday and Week O’Nautical and for such a great price!  I love the thrill of the hunt and the score!

You can shop my look at http://www.youravon.com/aliciahessinger and be sure to check your local T.J. Maxx for some good finds.  If you hit up the one in Fair Oaks, CA they had a couple of these red bags 🙂  As we approach the the long weekend be sure to add in some red white and blue to your looks this week!

Why Not Rock A Blazer – mark. Tipping The Scales Jacket

Rocking Blazer - mark. Tipping The Scales Jacket

Rocking Blazer – mark. Tipping The Scales Jacket

Rock a blazer?  Why not!  This time of year, pre-spring if you will, is the perfect time to rock a blazer!  It’s still chilly so a jacket you can wear like a top is the best way to stay chic and warm.  You can rock a blazer with your work wear or your going out clothes which is why the investment is well worth it.  I’m currently rocking the mark. Tipping The Scales Jacket.  It isn’t like anything I already own with it’s take on a tux jacket made more casual with snakeskin print in a more casual material.

Rocking The mark. Tipping The Scales Blazer

Rocking The mark. Tipping The Scales Blazer

I rocked my mark. Tipping Scales Blazer with a black tee and blush columnist pants from Express.  There’s these slight pinky undertones to the grays in the blazer so my blush pants looked killer with it for a wear to work outfit.

Snakeskin and Blush

For my accessories I went with the Feathered Friend Necklace and Grows On You Bracelet from mark.  These accessories have been in heavy rotation lately!

Are you ready to rock a blazer!?  I’m also loving this paired with a white tee and black jeans for some weekend wear!  As you can see in the pic below, definitely a look that rocks!  (ps those pants, shoes and bag are all available at http://www.youravon.com/aliciahessinger) You can shop the mark. Bon Fat Tuesday! Mardi Gras Inspo On A Regular Tuesday

Fat Tuesday has always held a special place in my heart, from French class, to nights out, to beads, to crepes or jambalaya I’ve always celebrated this sinful holiday!  Here’s a little inspiration for the day

Word On What To Wear:  Purple, yellow and green!  The Mardi Gras official colors!  Since I’m working like the rest of us on a typical Tuesday I’ll be pairing my green Express Portofino blouse with some black pants and fun accessories, like my satin printed Nolita pumps (Prabal Gurng for Target, last seen here), yellow skinny belt (Express, old) and of course some purple beads with matching ring and bracelet (mark.)!  Finishing it off with a purple and gold makeup look and my headband fit for Mardi Gras!

Word On What To Do:  Make a New Orleans themed meal fit for a king!  May be a little hard to get down to Bourbon Street, but might as well eat like I’m there!  On the menu:  Jambalaya, Corn Bread, Green Salad and King Cake.  And maybe start the night with a hurricane?

For a good Jambalaya recipe I like this one, but it’s one of those dishes you can work with what you have!  Chicken and sausage, shrimp and sausage, pork and sausage, whatever you like!  Because this is “going up, on a Tuesday” go with a simple salad with dark greens for a bit more of southern taste and as for the king cake, pick this one up at a bakery/grocery store for a Tuesday night treat!

Bon Fat Tuesday!

Wear and Share Wednesday – mark. by Avon Styling Trapeze Blouse

Wear and Share Wednesday Styling Trapeze Blouse

Wear and Share Wednesday Styling Trapeze Blouse

It’s wear and share Wednesday, which means Jackie from Living After Midnight and I take the same piece, wear it two different ways and share it!  For July we selected the mark. Styling Trapeze Blouse ($30).  It’s the perfect versatile summer top, pool blue color, fun cutout neckline and lightweight for hot summer temps.

Total Look with mark. Styling Trapeze Blouse and PUPPIES!

Going graphic, I played off the graphic cutout details of the top by pairing it with a graphic black and white knit pencil skirt.  Remember this skirt from a previous Wear and Share Wednesday Post?  Jackie and I styled this mark. High Contrast Skirt back in February but it seemed more than fitting to bust it out again for a fun, office-friendly-on-a-106-degree-day look!

Going Graphic

Going Graphic

What’s more graphic than black and white? Black and white pumps from Shoedazzle and a black leather bag with a black and white striped silk scarf tied on add to my look.  My bag and scarf are from Brooks Brothers but you can recreate the look with the mark. Handle With Flair Handbag in black.

The cutout trend is definitely having a moment, but its harder to make that trend work-friendly.  The mark. Styling Trapeze Top ($30) perfectly placed their cutouts around the neckline, making this a more versatile way to wear the trend.  To really focus on this detail I went sans-necklace but avec statement earrings (mark. Wow Factor Earrings) and kept my other jewelry summer friendly in shades of blue and gold.  (Avon Signature Boyfriend watch, mark. Nail This Look Ring, Limited bracelet, blue bracelet from the mark. Glimmer and Gleam Bracelet Set, and two bracelets I picked up on my Hawaiian vacation last year).

Wearing my hair up also helps draw attention to the super fun details of the mark. Styling Trapeze Blouse.  Plus, when its over 100 there is no way I’m wearing my hair down… enter in the mega messy bun.  I used the sock bun technique but wore it lower on my head to make it more appropriate.  Quick summer style for a hot summer day.

Chic Summer Style

This look is definitely my style.  My favorite color, blue, with my favorite style, graphic black and white.  Plus, I was able to make my current closet more versatile with adding in one new summer top, the mark. Styling Trapeze Top, and for only $30!

Wear and Share Wednesday – mark. Love On The Lime Dress

Don’t call it a comeback… I’ve been here for years!  It’s been a little since our last wear and share Wednesday but Jackie from Living After Midnite and I are back!  And we couldn’t of picked a hotter summer dress to style two ways, the mark. Love On The Lime Dress ($44).

mark. Love On The Lime Dress $44

mark. Love On The Lime Dress $44

This mark. Love On The Lime dress is a lightweight dress in a crepe like fabric and zesty lime color is the perfect piece to wear the neon trend.  Neon has been on my summer wish list lately (as seen in my last post) and the mark. Love On The Lime dress is an easy way to go mega neon.  It’s draped top silhouette, adjustable belt and flirty hemline makes this dress a must-have for everything your summer entails from work to weddings to nights out!

Working Girl Wardrobe: NEON

Working Girl Wardrobe: NEON

Sometimes its hard to update your working girl wardrobe with summer trends, especially a trend like neon, but its all about finding the right piece.  This dress is the right piece!  I can’t tell you how many compliments I got at the office!  The punchy color stands out but the shape keeps it appropriate.  And let me tell you, even on a 106 degree day this hot dress is surprisingly cool!

Fresh Fit

With such a bright color you don’t really need to do much to accessorize, just focus on the details.  I like anchoring neons with neutrals like black, white, nude, navy, etc…  Since I styled this for work I anchored it with black accents. The mark. Twist Of Lime Pumps were the PERFECT shoe!  The pointed toe styling works for the office and the twist of lime detailing on the straps keep it fun.  You can get the mark. Twist of Lime heels coming up on clearance for only $29.99!

My black accents are carried through my baubles as well!  The mark. Multi Mix Necklace couldn’t of been a better way to link the Twist of Lime Heels with the Love On The Lime dress!  It’s also on clearance right now for $14.99, but hurry only for a limited time!  Then I finished it off with a little arm party featuring my Kate Spade Idiom Bangle and mark. Sparkle In A Snap bracelet, and Avon Signture Watch and a nude clutch from Express.

I’m really loving the versatility of this look for summer!  Its really one hot look that I can see working with so many different accessories for so many different events.  I mean, just look how different Jackie’s look is with pink and nude accents over at Living After Midnite!  Like I said from work to weddings to nights out!  You’ll definitely get noticed in all the best ways and show of that summer tan!

Hot Summer Day To Night Look

Hot Summer Day To Night Look

On a hot summer day its so hard to look, and feel, cool.  The color is hot but the cool lightweight material definitely is a life saver.  There’s also no way I’m going to be able to complete the look with a blow out… that’s when the mark. That’s Beachy Texturizing Spray comes into play (last seen here).  On wet hair I just spray and scrunch and go!  My summer beauty look is just as easy, because you know you need to spend as little time as possible in that stuffy bathroom getting ready.  Use a neon purple shadow like mark. Neon Gaze in Violet Fever to line your top lash line with a thick line using a wet eyeliner brush in the shadow.  Follow it up with a thin black line using mark. No Place To Run eyeliner in Jet Set and full mascara like Avon Mega Effects.  A little bronze on the cheeks with mark. Island Beauty Pallet and coral on the lips with mark. Make It Rich Lip Crayon in Punch (on clearance for $6.99!) and you’ve got yourself a complete total look that’s nothing but hot for summer!

Week O’Nautical – Wear To Work

Zoey Loves Week O'Nautical

Zoey Loves Week O’Nautical

As much as I would love to be on a yacht today, I have to be at work… in my cube… doing all things completely not associated with sailing the seas and basking in the sun.  Since I can’t be yachting, I might as well wear something nautical to work.  Lucky for me nautical trends work just as well for work as they do for play!  I was inspired by this stunning image from pinterest of this perfect yacht-tastic outfit:

Nautical Inspiration

Nautical Inspiration

That would be highly inappropriate for work, however I can take those same elements and put them into a work friendly outfit!  Sailor pants… check!  White button down… check!  Brown leather accessories… check!  Bronzy eye makeup and pink lip… check!

Taking Nautical To Work

Taking Nautical To Work

For my take I took these navy ankle pants from mark. and paired them with a Brooks Brothers Non-Iron and then added on some fun nautical jewelry and neutral peep-toe pumps, also from Brooks Brothers.  With ankle pants a good sized heel will help create longer lines and avoid the stumpy frumpy look some ankle pants can create.  For work, when wearing a tall heel stick to a classic shape and material like these brown leather peep-toes.  Brooks Brothers has GREAT shoe options for work that are extremely comfortable and well made.

Chain link bracelet and gold knot bracelet (as part of the Glimmer And Gleam Bracelet Set) and pyramid studs are from mark. while the navy rope necklace is a past find from Target.  My pink lip is Make It Rich Lip Crayon in Punch (now 40% off for a limited time at the eBoutique!)

What To Wear To Work - Nautical Edition

What To Wear To Work – Nautical Edition

I expressed my love for crisp white paired with contrasting navy as my favorite nautical pairing (see here) so it only makes sense that I continue that trend for work.  What makes this outfit work so well for the office are the clean lines and the professionalism from a good white button down shirt.  Even just wearing it on a random work day I felt more put together and professional, like I was able to conquer the day (and i did!  i even made my bed!)!  Every closet, regardless of your occupation, should contain a good white button down shirt.  The best on the market is the Brooks Brother Non-Iron.

Brooks Brothers Non-Iron Dress Shirt In Tailored Fit

Brooks Brothers Non-Iron Dress Shirt In Tailored Fit

Just a little testimonial.  I haven’t worn this shirt in a good 6 months to a year and this is how I pulled it out.  Look how crisp it is, with ZERO ironing straight out of the dryer and hung (crammed) in the closet.  Not only is it a true non-iron, the material is fantastic, stitching is fantastic and fit (for even a large bust) is fantastic.  You get what you pay for with this one.  When you need to look the part, this is the shirt you need to pull out and wear.  Every working girl’s wardrobe should contain at least one investment in a Brooks Brothers Non-Iron.  Your promotion will thank me later.

Bon Fat Tuesday!

I have a special place in my heart for Fat Tuesday.  High school french class wasn’t necessarily the most legit class but for four years Mlle made it something special.  We celebrated Fat Tuesday every year doing some ridiculous arts and craft project, like making paper marionettes (Shout out to Jasper who dances for nickles!).  We also got to eat some serious delish French food, including guest chef appearances by Mr. Mahoney across the hall.  So we celebrated in a French class kind of way.

I still celebrate.  Even though I’ve never made it to New Orleans or ever flashed for beads, I still take the time to theme out my day… and maybe hit up the bar and get some beads anyways…

As promised I themed out my manicure.  A Mardi Gras inspired manicure using the NEW shade Violet Haze from the mark. Nailed-It trend lacquers duo – violet femme shades.  I then stamped China Glaze Passion over it with the swirl design from konad plate m63.  All in all I think it makes for one Bon Fat Tuesday!  (and yes I know clean up around the cuticles is needed… they’re just so raw that I need it to happen naturally – by doing dishes haha )
