Week O’Nautical – Candy Paint

Week O'Nautical - Candy Paint

Week O’Nautical – Candy Paint

I hope everyone’s July 4th was sparkling!  Week O’Nautical was in full sail last week over on FB/IG but its sailing on here over on ze blog and the sails are candy painted!  I took everyone’s favorite yellow dress and week o’nautical’ed it with some candy colors.

Avon Ribbed Faux Wrap Dress

Avon Ribbed Faux Wrap Dress

The Avon Ribbed Faux Wrap Dress has been a hot item for summer.  It looks good on every shape and size, has on-trend ribbing in a light-weight fabric perfect for hot heat and its only $36!  The summer fun yellow color is stunning on its own but I wanted to make it even more fun with some candy colors.

Candy Colors

I paired this dress with a light blue and white striped button down from Old Navy.  It had vibes of the boardwalk and cotton candy so I thought why not add in even more with the Avon Statement Stones jewelry collection.  The pastel stones were the perfect candy colored adornment to top it all off.

Not sure if you noticed but wrap up sandals are pretty hot for summer!  I picked up this white pair from Shoedazzle.  They actually have a pretty small heel so they are actually really wearable.  I’m still on the hunt for a nude pair that I love, maybe a taller heel or even a flat, but I’m a sucker for anything that wraps around the ankle.

Ankle Wrap Sandals for Summer

I totally am getting boardwalk vibes with this look.  Now I just  funnel cake, cotton candy and a corn dog!  I really like the idea of tying a button down over a dress for a totally different look on a simple summer dress.  I can see this blue and white striped top layered a number of items in my closet, and vice vesra, I can see layering a lot of different options with this dress.  Even as we tranisiton into fall, this dress would be adorable with warm colors anchored with blacks instead of whites.

You can shop the Avon Ribbed Faux Wrap Dress and the Avon Statement Stones jewelry collection over at my eBoutique.  This dress is one of those versatile pieces you’ll find yourself reaching for again and again, its just so easy to wear.  Believe me when I say it flatters pretty much everyone!

Week O’Nautical – Cool Silver

Week O'Nautical - Cool Silver

Week O’Nautical – Cool Silver

Are you a silver or a gold person!? Just like everything else, it depends on my mood and what vibe I’m going for, but overall I’m both. I tend to lean towards silver more often… its cool and chic, just like today’s Week O’Nautical OOTD!  Week O’Nautical = Counting down to the holiday weekend wearing anything that fits into the red white and blue theme with a loosely nautical feel, key word being loosely.

Pencil Skirt for today's OOTD

Pencil Skirt for today’s WoN OOTD

I knew I wanted to wear this red pencil skirt to work today (Express, old).  It’s the perfect summer red and really since I’ve been back to the office I really haven’t worn my pencil skirts.  It has this silver disc detailing at the belt and that’s what insipred me to carry that cool silver throughout.

Avon Summer Statement Metal Jewelry in Silver

I just got this Avon Summer Statements Stretch Bracelet (that I can’t stop wearing!) but it has the same hammered disc details that the skirt has so I was like, yep, wearing that.  Also released with the bracelet as part of our summer fashion release, are these Avon Summer Statements Hoop Earrings, that I’m also wearing non-stop!  Both of these go with EVERYTHING and they do come in both silver and gold… I, of course, got them in both tones.  When something is so classic, versatile and on trend you just have to go for both!

Matching Silver Hammered Metal Details

What also stood out to me was this old mark. ring with silver and turquoise, so I had to wear it today too.  But what top could pull these all together, a ruffled chambray top!  Cool, chic, layed back, and maybe a little fitting to watch Yellowstone that’s saved on my DVR later.

Cool and Chic

You know what else is cool and chic… my summer bag!  I’m obsessed.  This Dooney and Bourke Wayfarer Nylon Tote with Accessories from QVC.  It is the perfect summer work bag, perfect!  The Italian nylon is so lightweight and easy to care for, the tan handles make it casual for summer and the red detailing on the zipper… swoon!

I’m digging my look today.  I haven’t been too excited about outfits lately, and this one is changing my mind.  It feels more like me, it has a theme, and its cool and chic.

Return To Work Wear

Return To Work Wear

Return To Work Wear

Anyone else gone back to work after working from home for months? Its a transition right!?  I could not figure out what to wear, nothing looked good on me or fit quite right (quarantine 15 is real folks)! As much as I love my structured work wear pieces I haven’t been in that mindset for months.  Then I realized why don’t I just dress up my comfy casual pieces for my RTW wear!

Styling Tee Shirts for Work

Styling Tee Shirts for Work

All my spring purchases were casual pieces, like this Avon Multi Stripe Tee Pack – 4 easy to wear pocket t-shirts for $34.99.  These are my favorite tee shirts!  I get them every season they release them.  They’re also easily dressed up for work!  I’ve worn them here on the blog MANY of times… like here.  For today’s look I’m wearing the tan tee from the Multi Stripe Tee Pack.

Black and Tan

Black and Tan

Black and Tan is more than an Yeuling beer… its a great color pairing!  I paired my tan tee with a black knit skirt (also no stranger to the blog see here).  Both are more casual pieces but the color pairing is a little more sophisticated for work.

Remixing my Rafia Jewelry

Since I’ve been LIVING in my raffia jewelry from Avon, I thought I’d play it up a little differently with these chandelier earrings and beaded bracelets that have similar tones as raffia necklace and bracelet.  The combination was perfect!  Neutral and relaxed but a little glam and dressy to finish out my look.  (Earrings and bracelets launch June 23rd at http://www.youravon.com/aliciahessinger)

It’s also in the 90’s today so having something comfortable and breathable to wear to work is a must.  I definitely will wear this look again, and again, and again!  You know what else I’m loving, the new Senses line from Avon.  The bath and body line got a major glow up with new and improved formulas, packaging, and scents!  This Cozy Vanilla & Coconut scent not only matches my outfit but is scrumptious!  I need a good lotion especially this time of year and these guys did not dissapoint.

On Wednesday’s We Wear and Share

On Wednesday's We Wear and Share

On Wednesday’s We Wear and Share

On Wednesday’s we wear pink… or blush and burgundy because I’m not a huge fan of pink.  Please don’t revoke my girl card, haha.  I mean I like pink nail polish, pink lips, pink eye makeup but in fashion, decor or anything else, not my jam.  However I can get behind blush and burgundy, a more sophisticated take on pink.  With Valentine’s Day coming up I’ve been theme’ing out my life, making the winter more loveable.

Blush + Burgundy

Blush + Burgundy

Let’s be real, it’s still winter and it’s still cold, so romantic dresses might seem like a good idea but they’re not practical.  A blush sweater and ponte pants (WHBM) are extremely practical and absolutely work toward the Valentine’s Day theme.  This blush sweater has an adorable bow back which I didn’t capture but take my word for it, the added details are romantic.  This sweater is old but you can find a cozy blush sweater with romantic details to recreate the look.

Burgundy Pumps Add The Extra Punch

Burgundy Pumps Add The Extra Punch

Pairing burgundy with blush is a little unexpected but totally a winter winner pairing.  Just a pop of a burgundy suede pump and matte burgundy lip really pulls this look together.  #lipoftheday is the Avon True Color Perfectly Matte Lipstick in Wild Cherry.  This matte lipstick is one of my favorites because its not drying!  I can’t have anything drying in these dry cold winter months, so if I want a matte lip this is the way I go.

Like I said I’ve been Valentine’s Day-ing my life which included pulling out jewelry peices that I think fit in, like my rose gold options.  I picked up some new Valentine’s Day jewelry, had some adorable old pieces (like these heart hoops) and some other pieces that really just fit well in the theme.  To get some good use out of them, I put them out on a display jewelry stand so I can grab and go when getting ready in the mornings.  This rose gold set from 2019 holiday at Avon has been in heavy rotation.  As an alternative check out these rose gold and jet black options!

Rose Gold Baubles

Wearing pink makeup has always been a favorite.  Maybe its the pink undertones in my skin but pinks are always flatteirng on me.  The Avon Send Roses Eye Palette really is my everything these days.  I did a monochromatic pink eye look and used the deep purple shade as my eyeliner.  I’m horrible at capturing the details but IRL it’s super pretty and dramatic but wearable!

No full look is finaly with out the finishing touches of fragrance.  For February this is my duo, Rose body cream from Bath and Body works with Avon Velvet.  I like having the travel size to throw in my bag and apply later if I’m running late or forget to put on perfume.  I mean there’s a reason why I made that New Year’s smell good resolution (see what I mean here).  Velvet is a fragrance that grew on me, now its one of my favorites and COMPLETELY out of my normal fragrance picks.  It also is the most long lasting scent I have, and even more so when I pair it with the dry oil right out of the shower.

My Favorite Fall Outfit

My Favorite Fall Outfit

My Favorite Fall Outfit

Hello November! Halloween is always the switch here in Nor Cal. It’s now for sure fall. Seriously last week I was so hot I still had to pull my sleeveless tops out again. However, it did lead me to my favorite fall outfit. This combo from Banana Republic Factory:  Sweater dress + Felt Hat + Ruana + Mules

Banana Republic Factory Ribbed Midi Sweater Dress

Banana Republic Factory Ribbed Midi Sweater Dress

This ribbed sleeveless midi dress is so easy to wear for fall.  It’s comfortable, flattering, the perfect weight and extremely versatile.  A few fall accessories and I have my perfect fall look.  I liked it so much that I got it in both black and tan!  Both are the perfect fall colors.  *sidenote I’m linking the petite but I’m wearing a regular.

What makes this look so fall friendly are the accessories.  The hat is from Amazon, which for the price, an excellent find and its adjustable to fit multiple head sizes.  The ruana, or poncho as they call it, is from Banana Republic Factory too.  It is the perfect combination of fall neutrals in a plaid which reverses to my favorite print, black and white houndstooth.  It’s also so soft and cozy so as weather transitions, or for cooler mornings, or cooler offices, this guy was my GO-TO in Sept and Oct.  I liked it so much I might of got a few for gifts. Actually, this ruana and felt hat combo would make and excellent pairing for a Christmas gift.  Especially for someone you really don’t know their size in clothes but you still want to get them something fashionable.

This has been my favorite fall outfit, not only this black version but also in the tan.  I wear the same accessories and just reverse the ruana for a completely new look!  You could definitely warm this up for cooler temps with a denim jacket, cozy cardigan sweater, or even a turtleneck underneath the dress.  The ruana/poncho is really warm too so if you belted it and treated it more like a cardigan sweater you’d be plenty warm.  Also, instead of mules switch into your favorite tall boots and done!  I’ll be wearing this all fall and winter I’m sure.

Leopard, and Snake and Zebra, OH MY!

Leopard, and Snake and Zebra, OH MY!

Leopard, and Snake and Zebra, OH MY!

Just in case you’ve been living under a rock, animal prints are a huge trend right now. They were hot in the summer and even hotter for fall. You’ll see some sort of version at pretty much every retailer. The thing with animal prints, they’re kinda are always in, just how you wear them fluctuates. Which means now is a great time to get some pieces that will be super trendy now but also last in your wardrobe for years to come. Here are a few suggestions on how to shop and wear the trend:

Leopard Print

Leopard Print

Leopard: A leopard piece is the way to go If you don’t really think yourself as trendy but you like the trends.  Or, if you’re someone who hates the trend when they first come out, but then end up liking it once you see it all over (guilty!).  Leopard works really well for fall because its already set in fall colors with the browns, taupes, blacks and creams.  I suggest finding a leopard blouse in a soft flowy material.  You can dress up a pair of jeans or wear it with some white shorts for a late summer look.   Come actual fall pair with a boyfriend cardigan or with your fav moto/leather/jean jacket for a cool girl appeal.  A leopard blouse always works well for workwear too.  Be trendy by pairing it with a tie waist cropped pant in blush.  Once this of the moment trend dies down a leopard blouse will still work well in your closet especially if you’re just pairing it with a black pant/skirt for work or a dark denim for casual wear.  If you want something a little more trendy the oversized leopard print cardigans are huge!  Nordstrom’s version sold out but the one on Amazon everyone is grabbing.  I also really like the black and cream/white leopard prints as a take that not everyone is wearing…

Snakeskin Trend

Snakeskin Trend

Snakeskin:  Now snakeskin is like the uber-trendy trend right now.  So if you want to be in, then snakeskin it is.  You’ll see snakeskin right now in everything… I mean everything!  From trench coats to shoes to bags to joggers… snakeskin everything!  But, because of this, you can find some really cool pieces, like a red snakeskin printed bodysuit I picked up from Express which is a total fun twist on the trend.  What I recommend shopping for though, is a pair of snakeskin boots!  These are something that will work in your wardrobe for years to come!  For you regular trendy people, get an ankle boot.  Wear it with white jeans and a white tank for a wear now look and then wear it with black jeans and a black tee come actual fall.  For you super trendy folks, get a pair of tall OTK snakeskin boots! Wear them with a t-shirt dress or a band graphic tee and shorts for a late summer look.  Come fall pair them with a sweater dress and a trench or the classic leggings/tee/jacket combo.  Even wear them with a pencil skirt for a wear to work look.  For the not-so-trendy shop for a pair of snakeskin flat mules or loafers.  Just a pop of snakeskin that keeps you on trend but not by too much and a style you can wear to work to running errands to casual outings.

Snakeskin and Puppy Booties ;)

Snakeskin and Puppy Booties 😉

Zebra Print

Zebra Print

Zebra:  If you don’t want to be wearing the same trend as every girl on IG then zebra is the way to go.  Just as in as leopard/snakeskin but a little different, and a little harder to find so you’ll stand out in a different way.  If you want to be even more mega trendy, pattern mix it with other animal prints, I especially like it with a tiger print or giraffe print.  Right now shop for a slinky midi skirt in a zebra print.  The leopard version is all over the place, but a zebra print is a more unique alternative.  It’s really wearable and on trend with just a white tee and sneakers, but I would wear it with heels… you know me.  Come fall, throw on a denim jacket for weekend, a cardigan for work, or a leather jacket and black heels for a night out.  This Ann Taylor Zebra Print Skirt, it’s the perfect transitional piece plus it’s one you could wear 10 years ago and one you could wear in 10 more years.  With all these animal print pieces a nice fabric in a sophisticated style will allow you to get more wear out of the pieces for years to come.

Tee/Layered Necklaces - Avon; Skirt - Ann Taylor; Sandals - Marshall's

Tee/Layered Necklaces – Avon; Skirt – Ann Taylor; Sandals – Marshall’s

Fun fact about me, zebra’s are my favorite animal.  With that being said, I don’t really like a zebra print unless its done extremely tasteful.   That’s the trick to wearing animal print find it in luxe fabrics and fits that will read classy not trashy and then have fun with it with what you pair it with.  Now they become pieces that last beyond the trend!  What animal print pieces do you have your eye on?

PS:  I have a great neutral makeup look that works with all these looks, and transitions into the fall.  If you want to see more leave me a comment!

Week O’Nautical – White Hot August

Things about me:  I love any reason to theme out my day.  I love August aka the birthday month.  This year I themed out my August as white hot.  What does that entail you ask?  Buying and wearing white things.  It all started with my hunt for a new purse and coming across this white MK bag at the beginning of the month… on clearance at Marshalls!  I decided there it was going to be a #whitehotaugust!  I’ve been wearing my whitest of whites, painting my nails white, even obsessing over my new white and black new car interior.  So when I was shopping for birthday outfits I ordered this white dress, however my plans didn’t really involve activities functional for a dress.  Now that it’s Week O’Nautical I have the chance to take this LWD out for a spin as we count down to LDW!

Week O’Nautical – Little Red Dress

Week O’Nautical is here for the short work week!  I’m counting down to the long weekend by theme-ing out my life in all things red white and blue with a loose – and I do mean loose – nautical vibe.  Last time, Memorial Week O’Nautical was all about the blues, but this 4th of July week we’re all about the red! Starting it all off with a Little Red Dress!

Red Dress For A Short Work Week

Little Red Dress – the Avon Myrna Dress

This little red dress was from the spring release via Avon which you might of seen me share on IG, but from the moment I ordered it I had nothing but Week O’Nautical OOTD thoughts on it.  A good red dress is a must in my closet.  I like this one because its off the shoulder which I love, even if I have to layer it with a bodysuit.  Its also lightweight, stretchy, kinda loose, kinda fitted and packable so perfect for summer trips!

For work I paired this with some nautical block heeled sandals (last seen here), a gold cuff and white hoop earrings all from Avon.  My bag is my new summer bag! I scored on a good deal on it at Marshall’s.  This Michael Kors metallic gold canvas bag with rope straps is the PERFECT for Week O’Nautical bag!  This is such a great summer work bag and I’m very pleased I found this gem.

Wearing A Summer Jumpsuit For Work

It’s wear and share Wednesday and I’m wearing my newest favorite summer jumpsuit… to work!  Wearing a summer jumpsuit for work doesn’t really sound appropriate or professional.  However, it totally can be!

Avon Ella Jumpsuit

Avon Ella Jumpsuit

Let’s start with the jumpsuit… this pretty blue number is the Avon Ella Jumpsuit ($39.99).  It features a sleeveless design with a keyhole neckline and a wide cropped leg with elastic waist.  And it has pockets, anything with pockets in instantly better.  This is the same material of the palm print one I loved from last year (see here) but what makes this one more work appropriate is its simple clean design in a solid color.

For work I layered it with a sleeveless suiting vest in black.  The quality fabric keeps this looking professional while the sleeveless design keeps it functional for hot summer weather.  I anchored this look in black to add a layer of sophistication.  My black strappy sandal works with the shorter hem length over say a chunky shoe, and of course my black Movato watch always looks clean.  I also kept my jewelry simple and clean with these Julia pear shaped earrings and a single bangle.

This look really works for work and play.  Head to happy hour and loose the vest for a warm summer nights look.  I really love a bright blue paired with black but this would also look fresh with a clean white.  If your office is chilly then pair a regular blazer over this for a wear to work look.  It has a lot of flexibility in your working girl wardrobe.

Week O’Nautical: The Nautical Trench Coat

Week O'Nautical: The Nautical Trench Coat

Week O’Nautical: The Nautical Trench Coat

This nautical trench coat is a bit of a unicorn item for me.  With the weather we’ve been having its kind of the perfect piece for a spring layer.  It is functional and seasonal and also classic in style with a classic nautical look in navy and white stripes.

My Unicorn Coat

My Unicorn Coat

Lets go back a few years when Cabi released this beautiful navy and striped trench coat. It was out of my budget and not the most practical purchase for me especially at a higher cost. I live in Nor Cal where coat weather is pretty much only Nov – Feb… and let me tell you I already have a billion coats. So I stalked it.  And stalked it.  And stalked it and wish I had it.  THEN I saw Express release their version, but again at a higher price than I wanted to spend on another coat I don’t need.  I had a great black trench coat from Express that Nicki found me on clearance back during the working at the mall, Elder Beerman days.  Probably like 2001 and that guy lasted me a good 15 years or more.  So when this striped version went on clearance and I was able to get it for pennies on the dollar I swooped it.  That was also in July so it hasn’t even been worn until this spring!  And now, my unicorn coat is home where it belongs, getting its full exposure on Week O’Nautical.

Navy and White Striped Trench Coat

Navy and White Striped Trench Coat

Even living in a climate where coats are super necessary this is still a style that should be a staple.  Come spring we’re all ready to leave all the black and grays of winter behind.  And hey, San Francisco is only a car ride away and I’ll always need a jacket there!

Shades of Nautical; Gold, White and Navy Stripes!

Shades of Nautical; Gold, White and Navy Stripes!

My OOTD is basically this Week O’Nautical look all over again, gold sweater and white jeans.  My sweater is also from Express circa early 2000’s and my jeans are some random brand from Marshalls.  Slides are Calvin Klein from Nordstrom’s Rack… and I’m loving them with white jeans!

You might remember I also wore this trench over my spring dress here, for another look at its versatility.  I found quite a few of this exact jacket on Poshmark and Ebay but I’m also loving this BCBG one and this Rachael Roy one.  I’m hoping I can pack this puppy away soon, but it has been my must have go-to this week!
