Mani Monday going up on a Tuesday… I don’t think that phrase will ever get old to me… mainly because I’m always doing today what I needed to do yesterday… but anyways, it’s spring mani mode up in here!  Luckily I got this mark. Nailed It Precious Petals Nailed It Mini Nail Lacquers to freshen up my mani options with a fresh mint and steely grey!

Spring Mani with mark. and Henri Bendel Bracelets

Spring Mani with mark. and Henri Bendel Bracelets

mark. released it’s newest Nailed It Duo set that I absolutely adore for spring!  The two shades Green Thumb and Steel Magnolia are totally unique and perfect for transitioning into spring and beyond.  They are shimmers with a metallic matte finish, which you could easily top with a topcoat for that shimmer to really show through.  I personally really loved the matte finish, it just felt really different than anything I’ve worn lately.

Green Thumb and Steel Magnolia

Green Thumb and Steel Magnolia

Green thumb is so pretty to me.  It’s more of a sea foam, a little retro a little modern.  I just love it!  Plus I love wearing this color in March as we lead up to St. Patrick’s day with all things in shades of green.  Steel Magnolia is a really good metallic too!  I will wear these both by themselves and together for a lot of different looks.  It’s one of those pairings really worth having in your stash.

Accent Nail: Jamberry Silver Chevron

Since I’ve been loving mixed mani’s lately I used another Jamberry wrap as my accent nail, this time in silver chevron.  It has a clear base so you can put it over a colored polish for a really fun look.  I really like it over Green Thumb, it really ties the look together!

Nailed It Duo’s at by eBoutique.  If you’re interested in Jamberry you can get this wrap here.  In addition as today is International Women’s Day a special FREE GIFT with any $45 order at http://www.youravon.com/aliciahessinger I would love this little number to stash in my purse, I love the double zippered pouches!

Trending Tuesday: September Inspo

September Inspo

September Inspo

If the world of Alicia was the internet inspo for September would totally be trending!  September for me is always a love/hate relationship.  I LOVE August, summer, hot temps and long days.  September is the start to the end of all of that… but also the start of more things I love, Penn State football, all football, apple hill (for my nor cal’ers) and all the fun events in September.  Luckily it’s still summer hot here and we technically have a few weeks left of summer so here’s what’s inspiring me for September!

This month I’m really feeling all shades of blues, especially navy, camels and nudes, red and burgundy with a bit of neutral blush tones and light greys.  Think very collegiate shades.

I saw this pic of Lauren for her September LC Lauren Conrad Collection ad and I immediately was smitten.  This is what September beauty is about, flawless skin, a light and bright eye with a classic wing liner, full lashes and a bright but deep berry lip.  I already use her staple eyeliner, mark. On The Edge Liquid Liner and I think I can find a similar lip shade!

If pumpkin everything is the motto for October then apple everything is the inspo for September!  I’ll be sure to make my favorite apple crisp, take a visit to Apple Hill and light a few of my favorite apple scented candles this month.  I totally like apple flavors way more than pumpkin!

Soft Pants and Soft Shades with mark. Fine Print Pants

No secret that I’ve been digging the soft shades trend, but the soft pants trend is a little harder.  On pinterest they look like the most effortless thing out there, in real life they boarder bad Hammer pants.  When mark. released these Fine Print Pants ($36) I decided to give them a try!

mark. Fine Print Pants ($36)

These soft pants are exactly that a soft, lightweight, flowy material in a loose fitting cut with a higher waist line.  The mark. Fine Print Pants have a grey and black abstract print that is fun but yet subtle making them appropriate for a lot of occasions.

When wearing soft pants you run the risk of looking like you dug out some early 90’s Hammer pants, which is why you need to pair it with the right thing on top.  I went with a fitted tank (Express Bra Cami) and an open front cardi (Express Tuck Stitch Cover Up).  This way, I kept the volume in the right places but still attained a relaxed fit and vibe.  Plus, the peach color against the grey and black pants achieves my soft shades color pallet.  (Even though I totally should of wore a grey cami instead of black)

To add to my relaxed look a black and white tote with stud detailing with the mark. In Black and White Tote ($40 but get it for $30).  A tote is my favorite bag shape because all at the same time it’s casual, classic and chic, and you can fit your life in it.  You can get this mark. The biggest trick for pulling off these pants in in the heels!  Maybe not so much if you’re tall and thin, but being short and curvy these mark. Sassy Stepper Pumps ($40) elongated my legs to pull off these pants.  Can I just for a second talk about how much I love these shoes… they are my everything!  Mega mega comfortable, go with basically everything and I just dig the design so much!  But I digress… overall soft pants are super appealing for their comfort factor but styled with the right pieces they’re just as fashionable as they are comfortable.

Soft Shades with mark. Sheer Brilliance Sweatshirt

Some days require things to be a little more casual.  Effortless pieces, comfortable flats, air dried waves and a bit of luxe does the trick to be casual, comfortable and quick and easy.  Especially on dreary February days a little comfort goes a long way, lucky for me I have the perfect piece the mark. Sheer Brilliance Sweatshirt ($28).  It was one of my picks for things to buy in February (see here) for a reason.

mark. Sheer Brilliance Sweatshirt

Besides it being super comfy it has a chiffon trim that allows you get the layered look without the bulk.  The cropped sleeves and textured fabric also take this into cute top territory instead of sloppy sweatshirt.  Chic sweatshirts have definitely been something I can get behind (as seen here and here!).

Leopard Flats and Grey for Days

Leopard Flats and Gray for Days

February is a tough month to dress for.  Kinda over all those wintery pieces but it’s not quite spring yet.  The perfect way to combat that is introducing the soft shades pallet into the mix.  Grays, whites, blush, nudes and the like are great transitional colors.  Try going chromatic by sticking in the same family and breaking it up with some texture (like the chiffon trim and fabric of the mark. Sheer Brilliance Sweatshirt).  I could enter a witty 50 shades of Grey pun here, but you get the idea…

Sparkle and Casual Waves

Sparkle and Casual Waves

Keep it casual with some flats like these mark. Hit The Spot Flats (who even have gray in the leopard spots!).  Truth:  these are the MOST comfortable flats I’ve ever worn, EVER!  And they look super cute on so win win!  Follow it up with some sparkle, a baby pink lip, and casual waves.  I let my hair air dry after I ran a bit of mark. Curl Commander Gel through my hair to give it a little texture.  Perfect look for those running late days, a quick and easy look from head to toe!

Trending Tuesday: Soft Shades

If the world of alicia was the internet #softshades would be trending!  I’m completely, utterly, most definitely obsessing over all things neutral and soft.  And I don’t think I’m the only one because they are ALL OVER the place!  I think, in this weird, not-quite-spring but not-quite-winter season (except back East muhahaha) we’ll lean toward a fresh clean pallet but still need to be a bit layered and bundled.  This is where soft shades of whites, grays, blues, blushes, etc stand out as go-to’s for late February in a monochromatic fashion.

I could get lost in Pinterest with all the soft shade pinspiration but a few standouts have made the board. Check out my soft shades board here for more inspiration.  Here’s what’s been inspiring me lately:

What I love about these tones are that they pair perfectly with your basics like black, navy and gray.  All you need are a few items to mix in with what you already have.  I picked up this peach/blush Tuck Stitch Cover Up from Express and it’s been in heavy rotation with everything from my mint jeans to my black dress pants!  My other must-have pick is the mark. Sheer Brilliance Sweatshirt (see here as my pick for February).  The addition of these two tops in soft shades opened up my wardrobe for a pinterest worthy soft shade love fest!  Here’s a peek how #softshades have been trending in my world.

Another #workinggirlwardrobe Look

Last Tuesday I gave you my easy formula for figuring out what to wear to work (check it here).  I then applied that formula for my last Wear and Share Wednesday post (check it here) and now FINALLY here’s another look.

Formula = sheer sleeveless blouse + pencil skirt = #workinggirlwardrobe

#workinggirlwardrobe that shimmers!

#workinggirlwardrobe that shimmers!

Day sequins are never a bad idea!  You just have to know how to wear them, like on this blouse from The Limited (holiday 2012).  The embellishment is anchored in neutral colors; grey and white, simple enough to let those sequin shine!  I paired it with my grey pencil skirt from Express, a blingy hematite cuff bracelet (mark. Cuff Link Bracelet), a white bag with hematite chain detailing (mark. High Style Convertible Bag) and and white nails with Kate from Julep.

mark. Statuesque Style Heels ($40)

mark. Statuesque Style Heels ($40)

My pencil skirt is a fuller cut and hits right under the knee so to make the look work for me I need to make sure I have on the right shoes.  Ones that are open (no ankle straps) and have a decently tall heel are needed to elongate the leg.  These Statuesque Style Heels ($40) are more than ideal with their glam d’Orsay style in a woven metallic fabric.  These are one of those styles that will work year round, match a ton of things in your closet and have just enough detailing to keep them interesting!  You can get them at my eBoutique.

#workinggirlwardrobe formula success!

#workinggirlwardrobe formula success!

I think today’s formula proved successfull:

Sequined Sheer Sleeveless Blouse + Light Grey Pencil Skirt + Metallic d’Orsay Pumps + Hematite Jewelry + White Nails + White Bag = success!

Fall Wish List – Brooks Brothers Fedora

I know I know… its the dog days of summer and I’m not wishing summer away AT ALL!  Actually I want it to last FOREVER!  However in the world of retail its prime new arrival time for fall.  Which means I of course am scouting it all out and one item I can’t stop thinking about is this BB #1 Stripped Fedora… in both colors!  I love them both!

BB #1 Stripped Fedora in Grey

In case you’re not a Brooks Brothers officiato BB #1 refers to stripe pattern on the band.  Its the classification for Brooks Brothers #1 stripe, most popular for ties and most classic.  My years of moonlighting at Brooks Brothers taught me well.  Because I’m both a hat person, a lover of BB #1 (esp in the burgundy and gold) and a Brooks Brothers fan I think I need this hat asap!

Weekend Nails – Pink and Grey

Lately I’ve been loving pastels and all things Spring, but technically its still Winter.  Which is why the weather one day will be wonderful and the next crappy.  So that means my nails will follow a similar pattern, pastel pink for spring grey for winter.

image

Overall pink and grey is one of my absolute favorite color combos, and this coming from someone who generally hates pink!  There’s just something about the contrast that makes  my eyes happy.  I was originally inspired by this pic found on Pinterest.  (which I’ll probably still do sometime)  I’ve been loving my mark. Nailed It mini trend lacquer duo so I jumped at the chance to use my favorite pink, Tickled Pink.  For the grey I also used another mark. Nailed It mini trend lacquer in Industrial.  (From the duo set from fall 2011, if interested in it message me, its been in and out of last chance at my eBoutique.)  Of course I had to do a gradient glitter on my accent nail, Essie A Cut Above.  I’ve been obsessed with this glitter since I got it.

I loved how they turned out and made a great weekend mani for weekend fun activities!  You can purchase the mark. Nailed It mini trend lacquer duo in Voilet Femme now available at my eBoutique.  http://ahessinger.mymarkstore.com
