Another #workinggirlwardrobe Look

Last Tuesday I gave you my easy formula for figuring out what to wear to work (check it here).  I then applied that formula for my last Wear and Share Wednesday post (check it here) and now FINALLY here’s another look.

Formula = sheer sleeveless blouse + pencil skirt = #workinggirlwardrobe

#workinggirlwardrobe that shimmers!

#workinggirlwardrobe that shimmers!

Day sequins are never a bad idea!  You just have to know how to wear them, like on this blouse from The Limited (holiday 2012).  The embellishment is anchored in neutral colors; grey and white, simple enough to let those sequin shine!  I paired it with my grey pencil skirt from Express, a blingy hematite cuff bracelet (mark. Cuff Link Bracelet), a white bag with hematite chain detailing (mark. High Style Convertible Bag) and and white nails with Kate from Julep.

mark. Statuesque Style Heels ($40)

mark. Statuesque Style Heels ($40)

My pencil skirt is a fuller cut and hits right under the knee so to make the look work for me I need to make sure I have on the right shoes.  Ones that are open (no ankle straps) and have a decently tall heel are needed to elongate the leg.  These Statuesque Style Heels ($40) are more than ideal with their glam d’Orsay style in a woven metallic fabric.  These are one of those styles that will work year round, match a ton of things in your closet and have just enough detailing to keep them interesting!  You can get them at my eBoutique.

#workinggirlwardrobe formula success!

#workinggirlwardrobe formula success!

I think today’s formula proved successfull:

Sequined Sheer Sleeveless Blouse + Light Grey Pencil Skirt + Metallic d’Orsay Pumps + Hematite Jewelry + White Nails + White Bag = success!

Wear and Share Wednesday – mark. Go For The Bold Necklace

mark. Go With The Bold necklace Styled 2 Ways

mark. Go With The Bold necklace Styled 2 Ways

There’s no denying that Jackie from Living After Midnight and I are accessories junkies!  They’re like little treasures, small, shiny and always eye catching!  That’s why this week’s Wear and Share Wednesday’s treasure had to be the mark. Go For The Bold necklace!  This exotic piece really stands on its own which is why Jackie and I both styled an outfit around it.

Working Girl Wardrobe

Working Girl Wardrobe

If you caught my post yesterday I suggested that every working girl wardrobe needs a sleeveless sheer blouse and a pencil skirt.  Here’s another look how that simple combination and some killer jewelry can easily answer the question “what am I going to wear to work today!?!?”  Recreate with an animal print sheer blouse with a solid pencil skirt, I’m wearing the mark. Call It A Tie Blouse with a basic white skirt from Charlotte Russe.  You can look completely put together and fashionable with this formula.  Now just add on the little treasures… like the mark. Go For The Bold necklace ($24)!

Accessory Treasures featuring mark. Go For The Bold Necklace

Accessory Treasures featuring mark. Go For The Bold Necklace

Mixing prints with prints is super on trend but hard for me!  I just feel mismatched, but the combination of animal prints in neutral, similar colors is a subtle way to do it.  The Go For The Bold necklace ($24) really compliments this outfit and the shiny gold allows it to stay summery.  To keep things looking light and appropriate for summer I kept my jewelry in the same color family with the Get To The Point Ring ($18 remember from our last wear and share post!?!), Bohemian Rocks Bracelet ( $24), In The Mix Bracelets (in and out of sale in my eBoutique) and a smokey eye in shades of bronze and brown withe mark. i-marks!  All available at my eBoutique.

And what’s a working girl without a great work bag!?!  The mark. Tote The Town Bag ($45 at my eBoutique) has been my go to for work.  It’s HUGE so it holds everything and then some, like your notebook, ipad and lunch!  The linen with faux leather trim keeps the look light and fresh but tailored enough for all your work wear.  Complete the look with a pair of pointed toe pumps in a neutral color, bonus points if they have cutouts like these ones!  I recently unloaded my storage unit and came across a bunch of treasures including these pumps I completely forgot I even owned!  Storage wars, Alicia version (as I’m coining it!) unveiled a lot of awesome finds that completely uplifted my wardrobe (and life!)

How I Wore It – Skinny Pants

Last week I introduced you to 3 trends that stay constant and how I wore the shift dress, today it’s SKINNY PANTS!!!  Now, I’m not a fan of skinny pants so I’m going to call them ankle pants.  Which to me are much more flattering and more true to the trend that is constant year to year.   So how do I wear the trend?  With mark.’s Blues Cruise pants ($32)!!!  Perfect slim leg, ankle hem and NAUTICAL influence in navy with bronze detail buttons!

How I Wore mark. Blues Cruise Pants

How I Wore mark. Blues Cruise Pants

My obsession with nautical looks made these pants super easy to style and wear.  I paired them with a navy and white polka dotted cotton corset and a navy and white stripped open cardi that I had in my closet.  Then, of course, my super large rope necklace in navy and my newest addition to my jewelry obsession the mark. Dramatic Effect Bracelet ($24)!  It’s big, navy and delicate rhinestone accents… its perfect!!!  PLUS it matches the Deco Drama Studs ($16) I’m wearing that you can’t see.  Of course what’s a look these days with out my In A Flash Ring ($16).  The Dramatic Effect Bracelet, Deco Drama Studs and In A Flash Ring are all available at my eboutique:  http://ahessinger.mymarkstore.com

Yep, pretty sure this outfit is going into the favorites category and FOR SURE is making a reappearance during Week O’Nautical!

Up close and personal you can see the detailing of the bronze buttons that take these ankle pants to the next level.  I’ve been wearing them with my Hot To Handle Bag and so many various tops.  These are one pair of pants that will get good use in your closet.  Pretty true to size but if you have thick legs you might want to order a size up but the waist is very forgiving and the amount of stretch in the pants will make any girl happy.

You can shop the Blues Cruise Pants $32 at my eBoutique:  http://ahessinger.mymarkstore.com  How would you wear the skinny pants/ankle pants trend?

How I Wore It – Shift Dress

Shifting seasons is easy with the right pieces.  Yesterday I showed you my inspiration for 3 constant trends, the shift dress, the skinny pant and safari chic, today its how I’m wearing it.

How I Wore It: Shift Dress

How I Wore It: Shift Dress

The shift dress for me means clean lines, and what’s cleaner than a an all white one from White House Black Market.  When tasked with making the trend my own I immediately go for my favorite color scheme… black and white!  Nothing is more chic, always on trend and always classy.  For my accessories I’m wearing all mark. starting with the White Now Necklace ($22) Studs and Style Stretch Belt ($16) Perfect Timing Watch, Star Studded Earrings, Black Facet Ring and Straight Up Sassy Heels all in and out of the sale section at my eBoutique.

Staying Classy with the Class Act Bag

Staying Classy with the Class Act Bag

The finishing touch to my take on the shift dress is my handbag, the Class Act Bag ($45).  Very classic in shape and structure but super chic and functional.  The zippered pockets allow for organization but still give you the room of the full size of the bag and the front pocket is perfect for keys phone and quick grabs.  This is one of those classic bags that should def be in you wardrobe.  Especially if you want to stay classy San Diego.  You can get the Class Act Bag at http://ahessinger.mymarkstore.com

Week O’ Nautical – Weekend Wear

And the long weekend is here!  I’ve already slept in, went out, washed the cars, bowled, hit up a bbq and roasted delish meat on spits!  And there’s still 2 more days left full of more bbq’s, pools, swimming and lake day!  For all this casual weekend activity I’m going to need some equally chic and nautical themed pieces!

Week O'Nautical Weekend Wear

Week O’Nautical Weekend Wear

Memorial Day weekend definitely means shorts.  I’ll be wearing my favorite sailor shorts and my white cut offs all weekend!  Both of these are from Forever 21 and I’ll be wearing them with some red white or navy bra tanks from Express and maybe an open stitch sweater for a coverup.  My other weekend essentials are my Hamptons fragrance and shimmer lotion from mark.  It’s a super clean scent perfect for summer, plus the shimmer lotion is so sparkling it adds just that little bit of something to bare arms and legs, and we’re not talking Spice Girl’s glitter, classy shimmer if you will.  Every year mark. comes out with an “Instant Vacation” series fragrance and this one has to be one of the most wearable, and my favorite!  Another weekend essential is my self tanner from mark. in both face and body, the face lotion is shown here.  After being in the sun all weekend my skin will also need some TLC with my Lemon Sugar Whipped Up Body Butter that smells so summery and so nourishing.

Basically I plan for the rest of my weekend to be poolside and lakeside so I’ll need some nautical suits.  Both of these were picked up at Victoriassecret.com clearance which is the BEST place to get quality suits at great prices.  I like the red monokini for the extra coverage and everything stays in place during activities.  I have to wear a single string top under to hold in the ladies, which is such a great idea!  I can now wear a suit I usually couldn’t wear and achieve some color blocking as well.  It actually looks better than you’d think.  And what’s that big white thing?  Oh thats the new floating cooler, new just for the weekend.  It will only be holding my lemonaid but will fo sho hold a lot of adult beverages needed for lake day.  Throw on a PSU cover up skirt and we’re good to go for the weekend!

PS.  Even my jammies are nautical this weekend!

Week O’ Nautical Day 4, Nautical Parisian Stripes

What’s black and white and “red” all over?  A newspaper…. and my outfit hahaha.  You know you chuckled… and also thought a zebra with a sunburn.

Week O' Nautical Day 4 Look

Week O’ Nautical Day 4 Look

Even though it’s getting a little too warm for pants I wanted to wear my red Columnist pants from Express with my black and white tank also from Express.  The Columnist fit of their pants is my favorite!  When they released the red suit last fall I was all over it, except I never got the jacket and didn’t get these pants until like Feb when they went on super clearance and I’m so glad I did.  When in doubt, wear red!  If you’re going for a colorful pant in your wardrobe I would suggest red.  It works year round, looks good on pretty much everyone and will get you noticed in a good way.  Plus it will match so much you already have and works for all your holiday dressing.  Except for St. Patrick’s day.  I don’t recommend wearing it with your green, since everyone will think you’re Christmas-ing it up.  I digress… back to my outfit…  the red pants also kinda look a little Parisian with the black and white striped top which is never a bad thing!

I coordinated my stripped top with my stripped shoes.  Now these shoes are from the Nine West outlet years and years ago and really have seen better days.  I’ve tried to doctor them but if I let you look closely you could see where the dog has got them, the white stripes that don’t necessarily look so white anymore, the mole skin I’ve wrapped them in around the toe to cover the wear and cracking, etc… However they match PERFECTLY and are still some of my favorites.  They were my go to shoe for standing on my feet all day at Brooks Brothers to trade shows to going out comfy heel… these are 24hr shoes!  (I will explain my shoe classification by hrs at a later date).  If these shoes could tell a story they represent a good portion of my life, so I will continue to wear them and maybe take them to the cobbler and see what he can do.

As for the rest of me, those shades are Marc Jacobs and POLARIZED!  I have bad eyes so polarized lenses are a MUST HAVE, actually they are for anyone, skip those $5 shades at the market and get yourself some protective shades.  Then there’s my statement necklace!    I think it looks kind of nautical with all the twisted chains and mixed metals and beads, like a twisted anchor chain with bling.  It’s of course, from mark. they do GREAT statement necklaces.  This one is called the Scene Stealer necklace and has been in and out of sale.  The earrings are the Fireball earrings that match the necklace PERFECTLY.   They will be in next month’s sale at my eBoutique so get them at the KILLER sale price.  I’ve worn mine with everything, they give just that small amount of needed sparkle especially when you’ve got a lot going on elsewhere.  And super light you won’t even notice you  have them on!  I wish you could see my makeup better but lots of sun and a point and shoot camera doesn’t always allow for that.  However, what goes perfectly with all these nautical outfits is the mark. On The Dot Pallet in Neutral.  It has 9 shades you can create a million different looks with and are the most flattering neutral shades I’ve ever come across.  If you get one mark. item in your life it should be this pallet, and it’s only $16!  Take that Naked Pallet!

Cocktail Rings and Watch

Cocktail Rings and Watch

Since I was wearing such a statement making necklace I kept it simple with my favorite silver watch from Burberry and doubled up on the cocktail rings!  The mixed metals and “stones” went well with the mixing going on in my necklace.  The red ring was gifted to me by the FAB miss nicole and I love it!  The 2 balls are also from mark. from last holiday season.  I like how my jewelry all plays together so nicely today, sometimes it just works.

How does day 4’s look hold up?  Too Parisian to be nautical?  Do you have a pair of beater shoes that keep on kicking and you’d like to have brand new once again?

Week O’ Nautical

Countdown to summer is on!   Memorial Day Weekend!  It’s the unofficial summer kickoff in my book and it’s an extra day off work so, winning!  (is winning still cool to say?  i totally love it… sup c.sheen!)  Let’s be honest, I’m not a real adult.  I find any excuse to think and act like a kid including getting massively excited for any and all holidays.  Memorial day to me is a reason to celebrate our country’s service men in true U.S.A. form by being as Americana as possible.  Translate to licia language… Week O’Nautical!  I make a point to wear my favorite fashion trend all week, nautical inspired looks!  I do this with all my summer holidays… Memorial Day, 4th of July and Labor Day.  It’s kind of like how in December I try to wear red all month long… like I said I’m not a real adult.

Every year when I do this I realize the same thing, I LOVE anything navy and I don’t own NEARLY enough of it.  I LOVE anything and everything nautical.  Which means sine I don’t really own a lot of my favorite navy and nautical pieces I save the most themed out pieces for the end of the week.  So were going to start this off with my Monday Week O’Nautical outfit of the day!

Week O'Nautical Monday Look

Week O’Nautical Monday Look

I’m wearing my navy and white sheath dress that has as pleated chiffon top.  The dress is from H&M a few years back but I have seen similar pieces as of late.  But you could re-create this look with a navy pencil skirt and a dressy white tank.  The rest of the look is all in the details… my accessories!  I’ve been LOVING my mark. Rock Of Ages necklace in peach and it looks really sharp with navy.  Now I wouldn’t necessarily call it a nautical look, but more beachy.  The necklace has this awesome faceted cut so it really pulls so many colors when the sun hits it and looks like something straight from the ocean.  Pair it with some gold jewelry and it becomes nautical!  For my gold accents I’m also wearing a wrap bracelet from Express, the mark. Borrowed From The Boys Watch and the mark. Cross Your Fingers Ring.  All topped off with my mark. Catch Of The Day straw clutch.  I love how the gold of the watch matches the awesome bold turnlock of the clutch… its the little things in life.  This look has that summer fun vibe but completely office appropriate esp for a Monday.

mark. Bronzy Beauty Look

mark. Bronzy Beauty Look

It’s a little hard to see in my photo, but for my beauty I went for a bronzy gold look, all with mark. products.  For my eyes I used i-mark metallics in sugar sugar and goldi luxe. I also accented my crease with shade 2 of On The Dot Neutral.  Followed with Get In Line Liquid Eyeliner in Painted Black and Lash All You Want Volume Mascara.

I used Touch and Glow Shimmer Cubes as my blush and with Get Bright Hookup Highlighter.  I used Bronze Pro for contouring and Powder Buff as my foundation.  With just a touch of gloss on my lips in Blow Kisses.

You can get all the beauty items I used as well as the Rock Of Ages Necklace, Borrowed From the Boys Watch, Cross Your Fingers Ring and Catch Of The Day clutch all at my eBoutique:  http://ahessinger.mymarkstore.com

Stay tuned all week for more outfits of the day for Week O’Nautical.  And yes I know its Tuesday and I’m posting Monday’s… I’ll try to be more on top of it as the week progresses!

Bon Fat Tuesday!

I have a special place in my heart for Fat Tuesday.  High school french class wasn’t necessarily the most legit class but for four years Mlle made it something special.  We celebrated Fat Tuesday every year doing some ridiculous arts and craft project, like making paper marionettes (Shout out to Jasper who dances for nickles!).  We also got to eat some serious delish French food, including guest chef appearances by Mr. Mahoney across the hall.  So we celebrated in a French class kind of way.

I still celebrate.  Even though I’ve never made it to New Orleans or ever flashed for beads, I still take the time to theme out my day… and maybe hit up the bar and get some beads anyways…

As promised I themed out my manicure.  A Mardi Gras inspired manicure using the NEW shade Violet Haze from the mark. Nailed-It trend lacquers duo – violet femme shades.  I then stamped China Glaze Passion over it with the swirl design from konad plate m63.  All in all I think it makes for one Bon Fat Tuesday!  (and yes I know clean up around the cuticles is needed… they’re just so raw that I need it to happen naturally – by doing dishes haha )
