Isn’t the week after the 4th feel like one giant Monday!? Which is also why Week O’Nautical is trickling into this week. My holiday weekend was unexpectedly full of fun! Friday we went to the Folsom Pro Rodeo. Usually we just go sit outside the fairgrounds in a nearby park and watch the fireworks, this year we got the VIP treatment! Luckily our friend was a volunteer and was able to bring us along for a night of patriotic rodeo action.

The Folsom Pro Rodeo was celebrating 60 years this year. Always on the 4th, the patriotic event offers family fun with non-stop rodeo action, outstanding nightly fireworks, mutton busting, a high American flag which arrives by skydiver and much more! They have food and beverage vendors, but as part of the VIP experience we were able to attend the sponsorship dinner with delicious bbq and an open bar.

The fairgrounds are small so the view is good pretty much anywhere in the arena. Which also means it sells out quick. So if you want to attend in the future, get your tickets early. If you can’t get tickets I suggest doing what we usually do, camp outside for the fireworks show. The crowd is always fun and festive and a great way to kick off the 4th of July weekend.

Can I also comment on how many adorable outfits were at the Rodeo! I went a little more functional and casual with a tie front tee from Handley’s Western Wear, a local shop in Folsom. I paired it with my fireworks denim shorts from Old Navy, some snakeskin platform slides and of course a red lip and star earrings! I brought along an American Flag hoodie (tied around my waist) incase it got to chilly as we watched fireworks… it didn’t.
