Lip Of The Week: Avon True Color Glazewear Lip Gloss in Darling Pink

Lip Of The Week: Avon True Color Glazewear Lip Gloss in Darling Pink

You know what I’ve been loving lately?  Lip Gloss!  “Taking it back to the old school, cuz I’m an old fool who’s so cool…”  (10 points if you can name that song)  …Anyways, Avon Glazewear has me loving lip gloss again.  I am just LOVING this formula.  It’s super comfortable to wear, not too sticky, moisturizing and great color pay off!  I’m wearing Avon True Color Glazewear in Darling Pink, which is just a perfect everyday lip color.  Especially perfect for spring.

Darling Pink is actually a cream shade, so its pretty opaque for a gloss.  In the sun shots you can see it has just a *touch* of shimmer that looks really stunning on.  I never would of bought this on my own, for no reason other than that I’m just “into lipsticks now.”  This Glazewear came as part of a set, the Spring Pink Delights Collection 7-Piece Set actually.  After getting a Glazewear in my Savana Beauty Set (see here) and this one I’m officially on the gloss train.  That’s why I love sets, you get to try something you normally wouldn’t of picked out and sometimes its a grand slam, like this time.  The whole set is actually a grand slam!

Spring Pink Delights Collection 7-Piece Set

Spring Pink Delights Collection 7-Piece Set

Valued at $93 this Spring Pink Delights Collection set is ONLY $34.99!  I got it because I wanted the makeup bag, being a little larger I knew it would be great for traveling to fit larger items like foundation, full size hair products, etc.  Additionally, I needed more Skin So Soft oil and the Soft and Sensual scent is my favorite.  So for the cost of the SSS oil and the bag, I got a full size perfume, polish, lipgloss, shower gel and lotion!  Lucky for me I was trying out three new products (perfume, polish and gloss) and all of which I’m now using on the daily and loving!  Haiku Kyoto Flower is another one I’m kicking myself for not getting before now!

Even though I’m not going on spring break I can put myself there mentally with this mani!  I picked out this wrap to wear for Easter because the color of the year rose quartz and serenity are the prefect easter colors.  Once I put it on I was like this is kinda perfect with the palm print since everyone is on spring break!

The wrap I used is Rose Quartz Getaway from Jamberry with an accent nail in Essie Apres Chic.  To prep I used this Avon Senses Cherry Blossom Hand Cream to help with cuticles.  Then I made sure the the nails were clean before applying Avon Ridge Filling Base Coat before applying my wrap.

Spring Styling Tips: Spring Colors

How To Style Spring Colors

How To Style Spring Colors

It’s already May but spring feels like it just hit.  Time to lighten and brighten everything, from spring cleaning to fresh highlights to your wardrobe!  Introducing spring colors into your wardrobe is a great way to lighten and brighten your look.   Color not your thing?  Jill from My Sweet Obsessions and I are back with our Spring Style Tips on how to wear spring colors.

1.  Pick a pastel.

Pastel Pieces for Spring

Nothing is more springy than a spring pastel.  Like I mentioned in yesterday’s post pastel blues, greens, aqua’s are huge this season but the thing with pastels is there a version of every color so there’s sure to be something you like.

2.  Start with a piece you love.

If you love something you’re more inclined to wear it.  I absolutely fell in love with this Avon Fancy Flora Collection Earrings and Necklace!  It’s retro 60’s design in spring pastel colors is right up my ally.  Plus it pairs perfectly with my favorite pastel blue blouse.  I just love the way this blouse fits, the color and the gold details.  It’s an old find from LC Lauren Conrad for Kohl’s but this all over color is a lot easier to wear because I absolutely love it!

3.  Try just a pop of color.

Go with a pop of color or all over!

Go with a pop of color or all over!

I’m not one to shy away from color but I do find myself wearing a lot of neutrals like black and white on the daily.  That’s when just a pop of color is needed and achieved with the Avon Fancy Flora Collection Earrings and Statement Necklace.  The pretty pastels add just enough color to feel springy even on your most basic of basics.

4.  Pair pastels with lace or crochet.

Not sure what to wear your spring colors with?  Try lace or crochet!  Not only is it huge this year (as it was last year) but it can also be classic.  I’m wearing a lace pencil skirt with my pastel blue blouse and Avon Fancy Flora Collection Jewelry for a look that’s more than appropriate for work.  However, I could switch it out for some crochet shorts and be weekend ready!

5.  Turn to your beauty items.

Work some spring colors into your beauty routine!  I lightened and brightened my look with pastel pink eyeshadows (mark. Spring Fling Eyeshadow Trio) , a flushed cheek (mark. First Blush) and orchid lip (Avon Ultimate in Orchid Petal)!  (see more and the full details here).  Even a fresh nail polish shade in a spring color will do the trick.  I’m wearing Essie Borrowed and Blue from the Lilly Pulitzer for Target release (see more here).

Jill’s Tip: “Add Spring color to your wardrobe with muted colors”
Jill in the mark. Dark Endings Maxi

Jill in the mark. Dark Endings Maxi

“Spring is the time to get away from the darker colors of Fall/Winter and add the brighter colors of Spring/Summer into your wardrobe. Start with muted colors like the mauve pink of the Dark Endings Maxi Skirt by mark. It’s is the perfect transition color. Pair it with a printed top, simple jewelry pieces and strappy sandals and your good to go!” (continue reading here)

Trending Tuesday – #springcolors

If the world of alicia was the internet #springcolors would totally be trending. I’m so ready to embrace color! I’ve been sporting a lot of soft shades (as seen here) but things are warming up and so should my tones! Maybe it has to do with the fact that all my spring and summer items are still in the attic so I’m working with what I have in my year round closet… but it’s time to bust out the color. Here are some trendy colors for this spring!

1. Citron

Citron for Spring

Citron for Spring

Anything from cheery lemon yellow to neon lime is in the citron category.  Which means your options are good!  This color is super easy to wear because all you need is a pop!  Or go mega watt like may favorite look from last summer (see here).  I love it paired with light grey and white but it looks good with everything from bright blue to navy to tan to black to even pink!  On my wish list, this mark. Bright Inside Tote with it’s citron lining!

2.  Pastels

Pastel Blue for Spring

What spring doesn’t include pastels?  This year the water colored pastels seem to be more trending so your aquamarines, periwinkle, robin egg blue, seawater green, etc.  These pair really well with tans and beige’s, which a toasted almond kind of shade seems to be THE neutral color hot for spring.

3.  Tangerine

Tangerine Lips with mark. All Butter Now in Coraltini

Tangerine Lips with mark. All Butter Now in Coraltini

I think this ties right in with the citron trends, a bright citrus orange with red undertones makes Tangerine a must.  It looks great on pretty much every skin tone and brings out your just developing tan.  Try it anchored with black for a punch of color.  It’s also great in a lip shade.  I’ve been sporting mark. All Butter Now Lip Treat in Coraltini.  It’s definitely a super wearable tangerine lip that for only $11 you can wear the trend at a super low investment.

4. Marsala

Marsala was the Pantone color for spring 2015.  I’m not huge on this shade but pair it with these other hot trending shades and it’s a great pallet!  With the 90’s resurgence we can see why this mauve shade is super popular.

5.  Pineapples

Ok, ok, so pineapples aren’t a color but this graphic print is so hot right now (said like Zoolander).  You’ll see this print pop up on everything to tanks to bags to dresses to flip flops!  My favorite right now are these LC Lauren Conrad for Kohl’s flip flops in a cute pineapple print but they’re not on the website yet, I’ve only seen them in store.  Ultimately I want those freaking Lilly Pulitzer for Target ones but I doubt I’ll find them returned in my size, or online for a reasonable resell price.  Oh well…

Trending Tuesday: Soft Shades

If the world of alicia was the internet #softshades would be trending!  I’m completely, utterly, most definitely obsessing over all things neutral and soft.  And I don’t think I’m the only one because they are ALL OVER the place!  I think, in this weird, not-quite-spring but not-quite-winter season (except back East muhahaha) we’ll lean toward a fresh clean pallet but still need to be a bit layered and bundled.  This is where soft shades of whites, grays, blues, blushes, etc stand out as go-to’s for late February in a monochromatic fashion.

I could get lost in Pinterest with all the soft shade pinspiration but a few standouts have made the board. Check out my soft shades board here for more inspiration.  Here’s what’s been inspiring me lately:

What I love about these tones are that they pair perfectly with your basics like black, navy and gray.  All you need are a few items to mix in with what you already have.  I picked up this peach/blush Tuck Stitch Cover Up from Express and it’s been in heavy rotation with everything from my mint jeans to my black dress pants!  My other must-have pick is the mark. Sheer Brilliance Sweatshirt (see here as my pick for February).  The addition of these two tops in soft shades opened up my wardrobe for a pinterest worthy soft shade love fest!  Here’s a peek how #softshades have been trending in my world.

mark. Rocking Pastels Necklace goes a little edgy

One item I can’t get enough of this summer is the mark. Rocking Pastels Necklace.  You might remember Jackie from Living After Midnight and I styled this item soft for our Wear and Share Wednesday so this time I took it a little edgy.

mark Rocking Pastels Necklace goes Edgy

mark Rocking Pastels Necklace goes Edgy

I paired the Rocking Pastels Necklace ($40) with a LBD, some killer neon yellow ankle straps and jewelry with some serious angles to them!  Dress is Kenneth Cole, ankle strap sandals are Prabal Gurung for Target and the Great Angles Earrings and Rock Out Rock Ring are mark.  (in and out of my sale section on my eBoutique).

Serious Angles On These Pastel Pieces!

Serious Angles On These Pastel Pieces!

The killer angular shapes on these pieces really make the sweet pastel shades way more edgy!  Just what you need to keep them from looking too sweet!  Finish your look with super straight hair, bright lips and fun liner.  That bright California sun doesn’t really allow you to see the details to well but take my word for it… line your lids with a thick line in mint using the Color Me In Eye Crayon in Mint Candy then layer your black liquid liner over that using a thinner line so the mint shows above, use Get In Line Hookeup Eyeliner in Painted Black.  Follow with lots of mascara using Lash Act in blackest black.  For your face, contour with Bronze Pro and dab on Just Blushing in Afterglow on the apples of your cheeks.  Finish it all of with a bright lip color.  I layered 2 Make It Rich lip crayons, both Peony and Punch!  All the products used are available at my eBoutique.

Complete the look with mint liner, coral cheeks and bright lips!

A super easy look for hot summer nights!  Who would of thought pastels could go edgy?

Spring Break Nails – Essie Absolutely Shore and A Crewed Interest

When we decided to go to Monterey for spring break I knew I wanted a fun nail in coastal shades.  Looking through my colors last spring’s favorite Essie’s A Crewed Interest stood out and since I’ve been obsessing over mint for the last year with a heavy emphasis these last few months I decided to freehand a fun chevron tip in Essie’s Absolutely Shore.

Spring Break Mani

Pretty sure there’s not a better backdrop to do a mani pic then a bed of sea shells.  Of course my obsession ring came along too, the In A Flash Ring ($16) from my eBoutique:  http://www.youravon.com/aliciahessinger

Essie’s Absolutely Shore is the perfect spring coastal beach shade, and I’m “absolutely sure” about that.  So sure, I did my toes in it!  Even though our spring break was only a day trip it was well worth it to feel the sand on my toes, a feeling that NEVER gets old!

Spring Favorites

I’ve been really loving spring fashion this year!  If feels so fresh, clean and full of fun colors.  Today’s the last chance to pick up some of my favorites from my eBoutique that were released for spring.  Just like all boutiques, items are limited stock and limited supply and usually last 3 months, so grab ’em while you can.  Here’s some of my favorite spring items in my latest look!  (which you might remember from here!)
