Lake Nails – Peach and Blue

on

When I knew I was going on the houseboat at Bullards Bar I knew I had to do a mani/pedi in relaxing on the lake, barefoot all day err day type of way.  I knew I didn’t want neons or brights because being surrounded by such natural beauty I needed something more muted and relaxed but still fun, because IT IS summer vacation!

Enter in my color blocked fingers and shimmering blue toes!

These are from lounging on the houseboat deck in the shade scouting out the amazing morning glass-like lake enjoying my chai.  Yes it was as amazing as it sounds.  I totally was going to colorblock my whole hand but preparing and packing got the best of me so I settled for an accent nail.  This was the quick and easy way to get a mani with some interest.  In retrospect I should of tapped off my nail lower creating a half and half color blocking.

For my relaxed muted nails in peach and blue I used Essie’s A Crewed Interest and Smooth Sailing.  Its not surprise I’ve been wearing the crap out of the peach cream A Crewed Interest since it was released this spring.  Smooth Sailing, while beautiful in the bottle with its periwinkle blue with silver/purple micro shimmer I’ve never worn it (summer 11 release).  I thought this occasion was perfect for me to bust it out!  Plus with a name like Smooth Sailing its a match made for a houseboat vacation.  I usually think blues and greens look gaudy on my long nails which is why I kept the blue on my toes and just accented it.

I loved this pairing for the lake, I thought it had that vacation fun aspect while channeling all things lake-like with muted hues.  Plus it started out my week o’ nautical on the right pedicured foot!  (ps. sorry if my toes/feet aren’t so cute, just focus on the color!)
