In the world of Alicia if Week O’Nautical was a social media site these would be the most popular hastags used!  In other words, this is why I dedicate a week to nautical inspiration… besides the fact that I’m a kid at heart and will take any excuse to theme out my day to day life.

#STRIPES

Nautical stripes pretty much take any outfit to Week O’Nautical level.  I’m inspired by every use of them (see #pinsperation below).  My outfit today might not necessarily be super nautical but it is influenced.  The thick black and white stripped dress from H&M is accessorized with a black vest, gold jewelry, a faux stone bracelet (Bohemian Rocks Bracelet $24 at my eBoutique) and a red bag.  I think it meets Week O’Nautical standards with stripes, red and white!  (sorry blue, we’ll see you tomorrow).  Stripes are pretty much a staple in nautical dressing, check out past stripes during Week O’Nautical here:

#SEASIDE

The sights of the sea are solely responsible for nautical inspiration.  Take the colors, shades of the ocean from navy to seafoam or the whites of a whitecap or a white sail from a sailboat sailing the sea or the reds, oranges, yellows and everything inbetween as the sun sets over the coastal horizon.  All these shades are all the shades you go to when going nautical.  There’s nothing quite as impressive as a seaside view, take the one above from a favorite blog I follow:  http://sealaura.blogspot.com/ Instant happiness!  (and check out sealaura for how to live life with a seaside influence)

Pretty much every look I’ve put together for Week O’Nautical involved accessories with shiny gold, burnished brass, ropes, hooks, chains, etc… all things essential to anchors and boats.  In real life these items are for function in girl world they’re used for fashion.  I love my rope necklace, that’s made an appearance in Week O’Nautical more than once.  Today I used the inspiration once again with my shiny gold accessories, chain link bracelet and straps on my bag.  (both vintage mark. keep an eye out for them in the sale section in my eBoutique).  My watch even has a nautical like dial!  PS. #SAILORS

Besides the honor behind our armed services I really love a sailors uniform.  Navy, white, double breasted jackets, sailor pants, stripes, gold, pride…  Even vintage naval uniforms still have the trends down.  I wonder if I can work tassels into my outfits???

Seems like all my inspiration these days comes from Pinterest, but really, how can it not.  Its one giant web based inspiration board.  Ever since the capsule collection release of Instant Vacation Hamptons from mark.
