The Wrestling Tie Dye. If you were involved with Fort Le Boeuf Wrestling in the 90’s – early 2000’s you know what this means. The coveted FLB sports symbol – a red white and blue tie dyed long sleeved t-shirt with our wrestling logo in the center. If you were given one, it meant you were part of the team. I got mine in 10th grade when I made that Varsity Cheer Squad for wrestling. We wore it at tournaments, for warm ups, for away games, sections, regionals, districts, states… it was the unofficial uniform for wrestlers, cheerleaders, statisticians, coaches, boosters… And out of all the highscool t-shirts from cheer, sports, etc., it is one of the few I still have in my drawer out here in California a billion years later.
Fast forward to 2 weeks ago when purusing the Old Navy website for their Americana new arrivals. They had these navy star tone on tone active items… some shorts, leggings, joggers, sports bra… As I clicked through the options, that’s when I spied a red, white and blue tie dye in the same pattern as my wrestling tie dye! I HAD to have it! Like, “I paid full price at Old Navy” had to have it.
It’s a modern take on my wrestling tie dye… a cropped sweatshirt with a drop shoulder. The perfect layering piece for active wear, lounge, or casual wear. Even more perfect for Week O’Nautical with those navy star tone on tone pocketed bike shorts.
I layered mine over an Americana sports bra and my go-to staple white Avon tank. Perfs for morning walks around Lake Natomas.
I def am lounging in this outfit this Memorial weekend… and will through all my active summer activities, all the way to Labor Day.
Tie Dye sweatshirt and Star print pocket bike shorts – Old Navy; tank and necklace- Avon; shoes – Nike.
You can always count on Old Navy for some good Americana items. And apparently some good nostalgia too! Plus all activewear is 50% off today only at Old Navy, including my shorts. Next, they should bring back those performance fleece vests everyone had in HS.
I did try to do my cheerleading jumps the other day… don’t have that height anymore, because I don’t have like any leg muscles… shocker.
I kinda miss the smell of the mats. I definitely miss wrestling season. Guess the summer Olympics and some MMA PPV will just have to do. At least I have a good outfit for the watch party 😉
